As much as $150,000 if the owner of Ebola.com has his way.Las Vegas-based entreprenuer Jon Schultz paid $13,500 for the rights to Ebola.com back in 2008. Now he hopes to make a killing off the disease's domain and figures his asking price is more than reasonable. “According to our site meter, we’re already doing 5,000 page views per day just by people typing in Ebola.com to see what’s there,” Schultz told the Washington Post. “We’re getting inquiries every day about the sale of it. I have a lot of experience in this sort of domain business, and my sense is that $150,000 is reasonable.” Schultz is speaking from experience: He and partner Chris Hood own Blue String Ventures, an "Internet Real Estate company that buys and sells generic domain names for profit. Besides Ebola.com, the duo hopes to sell Fukushima.com, BirdFlu.com, and PotassiumIodide.com, Time.com reports. Who might have interest in Ebola.com? CNBC.com points out that big pharmaceutical companies commonly hold domain names for major diseases. Johnson & Johnson owns the Cancer.com and Obesity.com domains, while Diabetes.com is held by an affiliate of GlaxoSmithKline, and Arthritis.com by Pfizer.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/10/14/ebolacom_n_5984814.html

Good luck to the guy
wow domain squatting sure is great
wow domain squatting sure is great
Yeah this is pretty dumb shit and imho shouldn't be allowed. People shouldn't buy domains for any other purpose than using them. Sure, you can use them in really whimsical way and that's fine by me, but if there's a company dedicated to buying thousands of domains only to send them for more, it's pretty scummy.
that's one way to may a few quid i suppose
I typed that in for shits n gigs and got redirected
I took my chances, and lived to tell the tale.
Ebolavirus.com Fuck your domain squatting.
I don't see the problem, if you actually go to ebola.com you can see it has information about ebola.

Parked domains are being used.
Ebolavirus.com Fuck your domain squatting.
Thanks for the tip! I will be sure to contact this company with a better offer.
the duo hopes to sell Fukushima.com, BirdFlu.com...
I feel like they already missed out on those. [editline]18th October 2014[/editline]
Sure, you can use them in really whimsical way and that's fine by me
Like Slutsof in Stagrâm?
I feel like they already missed out on those.
On a BBC(?) article they explained that with the bird flu one they are waiting for it be more serious.
Dunno about you but I'd quicker go to Wikipedia or something than go straight to diesease.com
Dunno about you but I'd quicker go to Wikipedia or something than go straight to diesease.com
http://diesease.com/ ???

i thought the top level domain ".com" was for commercial entities? if someone wanted an ebola website, why wouldnt they just use ebola.org? seems stupid to me
People shouldn't be able to buy a house unless they live in it. Parked domains are being used.
Except the price of the house you buy is usually very close to what you are going to sell it for. Getting twice or three times of what you paid for an house in return would be considered a meaty fucking margin. Meanwhile parking a domain is next to free as it's just an administrative fee. You don't buy domains from the domain institution like you buy houses, you register your right to use it.
i thought the top level domain ".com" was for commercial entities? if someone wanted an ebola website, why wouldnt they just use ebola.org? seems stupid to me
How many people do you know who say ".com" and think "OH NO THAT'S NOT RIGHT THAT'S FOR COMMERCIAL USE YOU'RE WRONG!" You seem stupid to me.

I gotta say, he's done a good job with it. Look at these other crappy disease sites: http://swineflu.com/ http://www.achromatopsia.org/ http://www.sars.com/ http://emphysema.com/ "empysema"
I don't think you understand basic economics.
I think you don't understand basic economics and domain assignment service on top of that.
i thought the top level domain ".com" was for commercial entities? if someone wanted an ebola website, why wouldnt they just use ebola.org? seems stupid to me
Nobody really pays attention to or enforces the original meaning of top level domains. You always hear in school that a .org is more trustworthy but there is no additional restrictions on it's use... [editline]18th October 2014[/editline]
People shouldn't be able to buy a house unless they live in it. Parked domains are being used.
Remember that house you bought for 100 thousand dollars? It could have been 80 thousand dollars but someone bought it just to make a profit. The logic applies to real estate too
I think you don't understand basic economics and domain assignment service on top of that.
Basic property Economics then.
Finally it is relevent. www.bigbustycoons.com
People shouldn't be able to buy a house unless they live in it. Parked domains are being used.
Just because you don't live in a house doesn't mean you aren't using it. You might store shit in it, use it for vacations, or you can rent it out.
Finally it is relevent. www.bigbustycoons.com
I am satisfied
In this vein, the body fluids which spread Ebola’s virus include various secretions like saliva, urine semen, sweat, stool, mucus, breast milk, and breast milk.
Hey man. Two tits. Two things of milk.
i thought the top level domain ".com" was for commercial entities? if someone wanted an ebola website, why wouldnt they just use ebola.org? seems stupid to me
.com is used by just about everyone due to it's recognizable status. edit: You know I should refresh before posting something, especially after playing minecraft for hours
