Recently, I purchased a wireless xbox 360 controller for windows so i could play racing games. I installed the drivers that came with it and updated them, making sure everything was up to date. I followed the instructions on setting it up and it didn't work. I uninstalled and reinstalled everything that had to do with the controller, and it still didnt work. I tried installing it on my friends computer and it working perfectly the first time. My roommate said when the xbox button is flashing it means its found a signal, and when its sort of spinning around its searching for a signal. So mine apparently found a signal
Is there some kind of program that might be causing it not be recognized? I really need help with this
I had to tackle this problem for a few hours but here is what works for me everytime.
Click your Start button and type device manager and hit enter (it takes a few seconds for Windows to find it, pressing enter just automatically opens it when it finds it).
What you are looking for is this:

Right click it, select properties and follow the arrows:

From the next screen you should click the bottom option Let me pick from a list of device drivers from my computer
Then scroll down the list to here:

Then you should have this:

It will warn you about a little something something something (I didn't screencap this part) but do it anyway.

Tada, it should be properly installed now! Try connecting it like you normally would (pressing the receiver buttons to find each other).

They do if you have the wireless receiver
Woodchuck PM'd me saying that it's working perfectly now so if anybody else has this problem then just follow my above post.
