In the space of just a few weeks, the team building this new hardware suite grew by four new engineers all from semiconductor firm AMD, where until recently Keller was developing the company’s latest processor architecture. Among the new hires, chip architect David Glasco joined the electric automaker. Glasco holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering from Stanford and he held chip architect roles at Intel, IBM, Newisys, NVIDIA, and more recently as a Senior Director of Server SOC Architecture and Performance at AMD until last month. ... Tesla also hired AMD’s Director of Cloud Server Architect, Thaddeus Fortenberry, as SoC Software and Security Architect, again on the next generation Autopilot team. Before joining AMD, Fortenberry was Principal Architect at Microsoft. ... Debjit Das Sarma, long-time AMD fellow and CPU Lead Architect, is among the AMD engineers hired by Tesla last month to also work on the Autopilot. Finally, Tesla poached AMD’s ‘Corporate Vice President of Strategy and Corporate Development’, Keith Witek, to be the automaker’s new ‘Director of Autopilot Enablement and Associate General Counsel’.
Source
Guess they're really trying to make autopilot work :v: [sp]AMD has no drivers[/sp]
Hope this doesn't hurt AMD with these leaving, Tesla must have really offered them some good deals to poach them away.

Oh boy I can't wait for my new Tesla to have 16 cores

(and then he's the kind of person that goes "WHAT THE HELL IS THIS?!" while shoving the piece of circuits you just welded in your face)

so what happens to amd?
Keller left after Zen design was already finished, he doesn't like to stick around, waiting for the rest of a project to get done, so that's not significant. Hope he has a good time at Tesla. Glasco doesn't really mean anything either, AMD already has plans set in motion for their server SoCs.
