(and they pretty much came with this[img_thumb]http://www.files.cosmicduck.net/public_uploads/DSC00777.JPG[/img_thumb]) Ok, so in my class we need some speakers to hear some music on, and fortunately i found these old but pretty kick-ass speakers on our roof. The problem is, that they are so old they don't use a jackstick, but they just have some wires. And they go into here So yeah usually you just plug the jackstick into your iPod and profit, but well not this time. Now first of all, is there some adapter that could take care of that? And second, i have two speakers and i don't want to use only one of them, so could it be possible to have another adapter to make those two jacksticks into one? _____________________________________ If all that should prove impossible i have another way that could possibly work... So well ofcourse it has a headphone thing that you can plug a jackstick into. So well i thought that if there were something like a wire with a jackstick in each end, couldn't you just plug the one end into your iPod, and then the next one into the box and that would work??? oh shit, remove all the c's from the jacksti(c)k [editline]09:57PM[/editline] ok the icon used to be music icon, but now it's PHP for some reason
You need an amplifier. Those speakers don't have an amplifier built in, The Stereo itself has one inside. Does the stereo have an "Aix-In" or "External input" or "EXT." Connector anywhere? No? Does the stereo have a CD player? If so, IF you have the brains to do a little hunting, you can find the audio lines inside that go from the CD player to the amplifier section. In these sort of stereos it generally isn't hard to find, but every stereo is different so I can't give any direct location information or help. Find it then just hack a plug onto the end. Otherwise you are going to need to find an amplifier.

Hard to debug over the net but that gray cable in the center of the second pic... Does it have three wires inside it? IF so, That's probably your audio feed the the big board (Which will almost certainly contain the amplifier) The Three wires will be: Left, Right and ground, The ground is usually uninsulated. [editline]09:27PM[/editline] Infact, that red wire to the far right of the three weedy ones looks like it might be it. If it's a multifunction radio, CD, Tape thing, There will be an audio lead for each one. If you want to be able to use the CD player still. Find which one is the one for the Tape player or Radio. OR, you can get a tape, to mini jack adapter http://www.edbpriser.dk/Product/Details.aspx?pid=96467 Might be possible to get a similar adapter cheaper. They're originally meant for cars with old stereo systems.
They DO mess with the tone though, but if that does not concern you, then that's an easy way out. And you may have to modify the tape drive cover to allow the lead to pass out, as car tape drives are slot loading. And then you have a tape drive motor going pointlessly, Though you can disconnect it.
They DO mess with the tone though, but if that does not concern you, then that's an easy way out.
it's mostly really deep bass that's fucked, and a little bit added background noise
And you may have to modify the tape drive cover to allow the lead to pass out, as car tape drives are slot loading.
highly unlikely, unless the tape tray assembly and "cover" is only metal
And then you have a tape drive motor going pointlessly, Though you can disconnect it.
True.

Noone in our class is probably gonna hear a difference since the quality of most the tracks my friends has is downloaded in shit quality anyways...
