What to put in your thread (if you're looking for help on a build):
-Budget
I can assume safely that I'll have ~$800 CAD to use. I'd rather NOT use it all, but WAHEY, if I have to I guess so.
-Games that you'll play/Applications you'll use
Some newer source games for now (CS:GO, maybe HL3 if it ever comes out :P)
Maybe a few newer games that will come out (I'm aiming to be "future proofed" (<- i know this term means nothing but eh) for the next 3-4 years)
-Native resolution of your monitor
2 - 1080p
1 - 1920x1200 (1200p?)
-Things you can reuse (OS, hard drive, optical drive)
Okay!
Going to reuse 16GB of DDR3 ram (can't check what exact type, I'm away from my desktop)
Reusing my HDD's so that's okay
Reusing my 2 HD 6870's for crossfire mode
CoolerMaster Hyper 212 Evo
PSU
-Where you live
Canadia!
Thread idea (and most of the content) taken from Prismatex.
THANKS PRISMATEX!
Ooooooookay folks!
I'm looking to purchase a new Mobo and Processor. I have an AMD Phenom X4 945 and I'm wanting to upgrade as a "Hooray RoflKawpter! You worked at a job where you've worked 10 hour days outside in the burning heat making shitloads of money for university so you should spend some of that on an upgrade!" thing.
I was looking at a website here in Canadia.
These all have the similar processors (i5 4670/4770K) but have all different motherboards!!

I'm not sure which ones for sure for sure work with Crossfire. There's a couple more on their "Featured Items" page: http://www.memoryexpress.com/ (right under the big advertisement) that have i7's in them. I assume that since I wouldn't need hyperthreading so much, it's not worth the extra money.
I was also thinking of getting a case for these wonderful things! It would be beautiful if someone could find me a case that could fit those things plus 2 6870's and a hyper 212 evo. I would want USB3.0 ports. Nothing too too "UBER HYPER GAMUR FANCY RICER" cases. Something basic. Maybe something like this Cooler Master HAF Lan Box? Hopefully this is a decent enough thread with enough information. If you need anything else, please ask :)

Doubt he needs a DVD drive though. Especially when he wrote he already has.
He never wrote he had an optical drive, he was quoting the pinned thread.
Thanks for the information! Unfortunately, I'd feel more comfortable buying from this Memory Express website, especially because they have a price beater thing where if you find a lower price at a canadian retailer online they take off 25% of the difference which is awesome! I guess I can take the prices off the partpicker website and see if I can get some discounts!
Would it be worth going up to an i7 instead of an i5?

Just take the parts and look for them on memory express. If it's a halfway decent vendor, it will have those (very, very popular) products. As for moving up to an i7, if your purpose is gaming, then you want to keep the i5. The i7 will not get you any better performance, as the main difference is hyperthreading, something games don't take advantage of. The 4670k and G45-gaming have already been mentioned and are the best choice in my opinion. Another alternative for motherboard is the z87x-d3h which has more USB and better BIOS, but sacrifices sound quality (if you aren't a sound nut, you won't notice the difference) and has one fewer PCI 3.0 slot. Addressing the issue of Crossfire and SLI compatability: both of those motherboards are compliant with both. SLI requires a minimum of x8/x8 on it's PCI busses, CrossfireX can run on x16/x4 (so if you go with a less costly motherboard such as the z87 G41, you may only have CF support). Generally you will see something on the motherboards that will say what it supports.
