Middle school student attacked on bus for wearing 'Make America Great Again' hat
A group of middle school students from the Parkway School District got into a fight on a school bus when they started arguing with one student who was wearing a "Make America Great Again" hat.
"As a parent it's so upsetting," said Christina Cortina, the mother of the 12-year old who was wearing the Trump hat, and who was suspended.
"I feel like my son was made an example of, it was a tricky situation, it was politically charged."
In cell phone video of the incident sent to News 4, the students are heard arguing over President Trump's proposed Mexican borer wall. The situation quickly escalates to pushing and what looks likes some punches thrown.
A Parkway District spokesperson says the incident was investigated and all the students involved have faced "consequences."
And Trump sits somewhere hundreds of miles away totally unaffected, and nothing is accomplished.
I think the wall is fucking stupid as much as the next guy, but this isn't right either

At such an age, I honestly have to wonder if kids are willing to wear a political hat like that to seem edgy rather than actually believing in the platform.

Explain why that would matter in this situation.
Explain why that would matter in this situation.
Well it's a school anyway, it should essentially be apolitical (at least in my opinion).
It's not a University where diverging opinions should be welcomed.
So, he was suspended even though he is the victim?
The fuck?
"Zero tolerance" is a bullshit idiotic thing and should be removed. Most schools prefer to punish the victim than do anything to those harming them.

Welcome to American schools.
Kids who are getting close to curbstomped can get punished for trying to defend themselves.
So, he was suspended even though he is the victim?
The fuck?
Pretty sure that's a standard procedure in US schools. Something about both parties being at fault, I dunno. As you can clearly see, it's totally fair to everyone! :downs:
So, he was suspended even though he is the victim?

That's the norm when it comes to fighting at school, in the US
So, he was suspended even though he is the victim?
The fuck?
Assuming he is 100% the victim.
The video that the newscasters display is edited and doesn't show the entire thing. It just shows both of them yelling at eachother and then cutting to 3 second of one dude punching then cuts out.
So, he was suspended even though he is the victim?

When I was in school, if you got into a fight, you were suspended, even if you were the victim. I was suspended three times for defending myself and labeled as having anger issues by the retarded principal who couldn't see that I was the victim of pervasive bullying by like 40% of the class. They didn't care who started it or why, they just bluntly slapped a punishment for what they saw, with zero consideration or care for the root causes. It was [del]fucking great[/del] negligent incompetence.
And that was in Canada, long before this new rise of zero-tolerance authoritarianism took over American schools.
So, he was suspended even though he is the victim?
The fuck?
Assuming that is is actually bullying and not just a fight, (the video is edited pretty hard it's hard to tell what's going on), this happens everywhere.
I got suspended for a week in high school because some cunt decided he didn't like my shoes and that warranted jumping me with 12 of his friends.
Didn't matter that there were 12 of them attacking just me and my mate, didn't matter that I was attacked a second time in the nurses office, and it didn't matter that I was in and out of the doctors for days later getting my injuries looked at- they "had to reach a resolution that was fair on everyone involved!".

I'm sick of these "poor trump supporter :'(((" threads while threads of trump supporters doing vile things are non-existant. I'm not justifying a kid being attacked for it, but after seeing this many stupid threads over it I wanted to counter this "innocent trump supporters are always the victims" bullshit.
Can we focus on the fact that the video doesn't tell the whole story instead of the poster's bias? Thanks.

Zero tolerance applies even if you don't defend yourself. Even if you literally allow yourself to be curb stomped without putting up a fight, you'll still get in trouble just for being involved.

Why not both? since he posted it.

If Trump does something to do away with this asinine policy, I will honestly respect him for this. Let him show he has the capacity to do away with one of the most cancerous features of K-12 education in the United States.
Is anyone else disgusted when they hear kids pushing political views?
Doesn't matter to me if it's a kid wearing a MAGA hat or a kid saying Trump's a cunt, I just want people to keep their children away from politics, they really aren't mature enough for it

Nothing stops you from making them if you feel that a certain side is not represented enough.
I wish that one day this would just stop altogether. Terrible.

Why not make those pieces of news a separate thread instead of posting it in here?

Yeah why don't we actually start doing it
I believe that the constant posting of these kinds of threads where some Trump supporter gets hurt or some protest has a few violent nutters in it are made so that the left appear more violent and extremist than they actually are and a good way to counter that is to show that it goes both ways
Why not both? since he posted it.
It's going to go nowhere. These types of arguments just result in "Just post articles of your bias to counter his bias" because anything further would just be derailing.
Instead of arguing his bias, argue the content that was posted. Argue the fact that the article does not have the full school's response. Argue the fact that the video is choppily edited and doesn't show the full picture. Argue the fact that it's questionable as to why an argument like this would be filmed before shit went down. Argue the fact that the victim's mother is the only one who really has a voice in all this. Argue why the mother would somehow have a video of this when her son wasn't even the one recording, and when schools usually request the only copy of the video and all other versions deleted so shit doesn't get spread.

They're a bit older so I didn't feel it'd be appropriate to make them their own threads. I was only unbanned recently (:

I know a guy who got suspended because another guy sent girls from another school to stab him.

Finnish schools don't have that bullshit thankfully. When I punched an asshole in middle school, it just ended with both of us talking to the teacher about why and how it happened. On another occasion with another asshole, we just grabbed some bandages for the torn skin caused by punches and continued on with the rest of the school day.

I can add this isn't the case in India either. I was lucky enough to not be bullied for most of my school years, but on the couple of occasions it happened it was mostly verbal, if anything.

Somebody pointed out in another thread earlier how 10,000 adults voted for Harambe.
