The park employee was actually dressed up in a gorilla costume and participating in a practice drill to simulate the escape of a captive gorilla from one of the enclosures. The employee was running around the park mimicking an escaped gorilla when the veterinarian spied him and, apparently uninformed about the drill, shot him in the leg with a tranquilizer dose meant to take down a 400-pound gorilla. The employee had an allergic reaction to the dose and was taken to University Hospital of the Canary Islands, where he is in serious condition. A translation of a report on the incident reads: The vet, who was only hired at Loro Parque two months ago, was supposed to stop the escaped gorilla. The accident occurred during a police simulation of what should happen if a monkey were to escape the park. Drills like this are standard procedure at many zoos (at some U.S. zoos that are certified by the Association of Zoos and Aquaria, all the employees carry out various drills for animal escapes or disaster situations several times each year) -- though never has the “escaped animal” actually been shot. The bizarre story -- almost too strange to believe -- is yet another testament to the lack of safety precautions at parks like this. Jesus fuck how is the guy who's supposed to be in charge of stopping an escaped Gorilla not fucking informed of a drill that involves this specific scenario.
Important to note, tranquilizer in the wrong dosage can be extremely dangerous, very often lethal. As the article says, the guy's in seriously dangerous condition

I hope the gorilla suit man is going to be fine, having to put up drills of the sort sounds boring, but getting shot on top of that is pretty shitty.
anesthetic / tranquilizers can be incredibly lethal and people usually require a long duration of training to use them (one drop of M-99 sedative is a lethal dose to an adult human), i'm surprised the guy survived such a massive dose especially after having an allergic reaction [editline]6th June 2014[/editline]
Moreover you can't blame him for doing his job and nailing that tranquilizer dart right into the leg of the "gorilla". What else would you do if you think a gorilla has escaped in a park
Maybe be informed about the drill?
imagine the k-hole he must be in
The employee had an allergic reaction to the dose and was taken to University Hospital of the Canary Islands, where he is in serious condition.
How is that funny?
I thought this shit only happened in jokes.
Back when I was a senior in high school, my buddy Nick dressed up as a gorilla on Halloween. We were standing around in the early morning waiting for first period, when I noticed Nick glaring solemnly over my head at something. I turned around and watched as a dude dressed as a banana slowly walked past, the two of them locking eyes. I nearly pissed myself.
I thought this was going to be about Remi Gaillard.
The employee had an allergic reaction to the dose and was taken to University Hospital of the Canary Islands, where he is in serious condition.
Crap, now I feel bad for laughing at the headline.
What else would you do if you think a gorilla has escaped in a park
Try to play Gorilla and persuade him to return to his cage with banana offerings.
