Iran accuses the West of - Shock, horror - Trying to get Libyan Oil
Iran has joined in the fray. A missive from Tehran says Western attacks are a neo-colonial attempt to gain control over Libyan oil.Although the Iranian has voiced support for the uprising against Gaddafi, in what it called an "Islamic awakening" in the Arab world, it says Libyans should not trust Western military intervention.
"These countries enter usually with seductive slogans of supporting the people but they follow their own interests in ruling the countries and continuing colonialism in a new form," said Ramin Mehmanparast, a foreign ministry spokesman, according to the Isna, the students' news agency ISNA.
"The records and the actions of the dominant countries in occupying oppressed countries means their intentions in such moves are always in doubt."
Although Iran has taken a zero-tolerance approach to any protests at home, Mehmanparast said the Iranian position "is always to support the people and defend their legitimate demands."
Pfffttt
Fuck Iran.
Hasn't the US been really quiet about the shit in Libya? I only remember hearing about the UK doing anything.
And france.
Didn't Western companies have access to Libyan oil before the conflict, anyway?
Oh wow Iran is criticizing the west, is anyone really surprised?
Ha ha, Iran hey, hey, Iran 2002 called, they want their line back.
[editline]20th March 2011[/editline]
they also said some political reform wouldn't hurt
Hahaha given they're pretty much next on the list of regimes to overthrow.

You have no idea man. I live on the same base that sent the planes in to attack Libya the first time. We are sending a shit ton of planes from bases all across Europe.
I think the US is just letting England and France take the "credit" since the US already has a bad rap in the Middle East. At least thats what the officers are saying.
Well, you can bet your ass that the United States (and all other nations intervening) care far more due to the natural resources of Libya.
No one gave a fuck about Rwanda.

Afaik the only thing the US is doing are bombing runs/artillery against military targets, like AA, bases, etc to soften it up for the rebels and the EU.
None of the country's should be there... Isnt the security council only allowed to intervene if its a War between two country's? Not a civil war...
Imagine how it would of played out if say... Australia got involved in the American Civil War... You just dont do it.

Well it's a good thing I don't give a shit then.
If a regime is killing its own civilians like that, I have no problem with military intervention.
Damned if we do help, damned if we don't basically. (the USA)

who are you, captain janeway
bam, star trek misuse of the prime directive joke
Don't see the problem with the US helping, it's a UN backed intervention.
fuck you iran, come at us bro
Its funny because its true, but fuck Iran, come at us bro!

European countries did get involved in the American Civil War?
European countries did get involved in the American Civil War?
Arguable, there was British involvement on the Confederate side
The fact is, no one is doing this out of humanitarianism, that is just propaganda. The UN did jack shit for lot of other worse conflicts, like Darfur, and only pick favorites when it comes to intervention. Libya's oil goes to Europe, and speculators in the US will continue to jack up gas prices unless the war ends. They are making a business decision. And the fact is, this is a form of neocolonilasm.
Most of what the U.S. have their is just planes.

If you don't mind me from asking. What base are you stationed at, and what is your unit?
Yeah that's true, but the last part is bullshit.

Thats because it was against UN policy to attack them.

Then why isn't it against UN policy here? What happened in Rwanda was worse than anything going on in Libya.
The same thing that is going on in Somalia, Sudan, Chad, Ethiopia, ext...
