• Failed comission drawing and sketch

So the story behind this goes like this, back in November my pal asks me if I can make a promo drawing for this mod he's making, completely willingly, I say "Of course!", not too long after starting I realized I bit off more than I could chew. His request was simply too much and I had to put it down for a few weeks hoping that in time I could finish it. Sadly it never got finished and I told him I was sorry. Anyway I decided not to let it go to waste and make something out of it. Plus concept character sketch Something's wrong with him, I can't put my finger on it though. EDIT: I think I fixed it.
As I said before the the Top drawing. You are amazing.
I think the head is a bit smaller than the body
I think you may be right.
But I mean, other than that, The art is just definitely fantastic, its really beautiful.
Thanks a ton. BTW I gave him a new head.
At first it looked as if the head was too small, but now I think the legs are too large.
Samm, exactly, That what I looked at. Not really the legs, maybe the thighs
I suppose that's what I get for not using reference. :banjo:
I gotta know, Mouse or Tablet?
Um, what is failed about the drawing?
The commission was a failure, it doesn't relate to Dwarf Fortress which is what it was supposed to relate to. @ Invert, mouse.
I think it relates plently, atleast in the sense of a lone adventuring Dwarf in the vast regions of the land. Searching for a new home. You could you know, just do another picture and have it underground in a fortress if you wanted to relate it.
Haha, yeah I could but Roff specifically wanted 7 dwarves and a wagon traveling through the mountain range of the wilderness, so it's a bit off.
Well, what stopped you from doing the rest of the people?
Time, effort, ideas, willpower, schedule, perspective, just about everything. Of course that one guy took maybe 10 minutes so what the hell.
Well, Imma just go copy and paste him and ghetto it up for some lols. I'll post my result if it turns out good :smug: which it probably wont :saddowns:
Haha, you might even throw in a 1-minute wagon as well if you wanted to.
Decent progress, making a crap-tastic wagon. [editline]10:03PM[/editline] Oh god my wagon is awful, I'm just doing the people :( [editline]10:17PM[/editline] Not finished, added 4 people and did some after coloring on the sun and sky for a more dramatic effect one is resting by a tree, another has stopped to gaze at the beauty of the land, an old one looks at it as he walks along. The one in brown simply continues walking, his hands near his side. Yes the red jacket guy is bald :smug:
The first thing I though was "That midget's gotta be around here somewhere!". That just made my day. I like the glowing from the sun, wish I would have thought of doing that.
Well I have to ask seriously, does it even look good
In all seriousness you did good on the three farthest guys, the gray haired man and the one behind the tree look way out of perspective (notice the leaves at the trunk of the tree, it gives you a size comparison) and the foreground tree seems to be fading away at the top.

Yeah it is true they're kind of perspective fucked, but making them bigger isn't really an option because doing so makes them blurry. Decent attempt though, atleast it fits your style. [editline]10:33PM[/editline] now for shits and giggles, lemme try coloring and shading that dude. (I do this all in PSP9, not MSpaint) sorry if I seemed to hi-jack, I just like to color lineart
I was surprised you went and recolored them and gave them different poses. Don't quit your day-job just yet. :P
"Don't quit your day-job just yet. :P" I don't get it :(
Just saying...you need more practice.
Well I don't typically work with sprite art like this. :smug:
Is that "Sasha" from "Behind Enemy Lines"?
Plus concept character sketch Something's wrong with him, I can't put my finger on it though. EDIT: I think I fixed it.
I had a feeling someone would say that, that or that he resembles, Niko Bellic. Tracksuits are a common sight with Eastern militants / insurgents I think. Doomarine where's my damn colored character? I was looking up to seeing that.
Sending props. Nice picture.
