Finally the people who were complaining about "no muricahh" can shut up.
Company of Heroes 2: Company of Heroes 1 DLC.
CoH2 wasn't as good as CoH1 because they removed or changed lots of things which made the original great. I wonder if this will fix some of that.
Like what?
Like what?
Scale. CoH 2's battles are tiny compared to what you could do in CoH 1. [editline]9th May 2014[/editline] Also unit variety, base building and any semblance of an understandable commander perk unlock system.

Fortifying parts of the map with bunkers, wire, sandbags and mines was something i liked to do in the original. Can't really do that very well in CoH2, though.

I agree on the scale thing, but I don't really mind. Base building? What do you mean by that? The commander system is pretty understandable I dunno what you're on about. The lack of defenses is because it would slow down the game a ton. [editline]9th May 2014[/editline] Here is a chart of COH1's unit selection http://s1.directupload.net/images/140331/jwe7mbwr.jpg And here COH2's http://s7.directupload.net/images/140502/vmi93lhh.jpg It looks like less right now becasuse there are only 2 armies at the moment, but for each individual army there are just as many if not more units than vCOH's armies.
The lack of defenses is because it would slow down the game a ton.
And this is bad ? It's pretty much why me and a shitload of people liked CoH. Without it the late-game became this clusterfuck of building expensive units and attack moving the enemy base, at least that's my impression from the beta. It looks and sounds great tho, i loved the sound design, i'll give them that.
Do you like impregnable fortresses in middle of the map that are impossible to get rid of?
Do you like impregnable fortresses in middle of the map that are impossible to get rid of? I don't.
Bulldozers ? Engineers ? Artillery ? Trying to break through the enemies's defenses is more fun than having a big mess with no boundaries whatsoever.
Plus, it is/was was about the eastern front on which territory switched sides frequently, so turteling has no place in a game that tries to recreate that.
If the game was trying to recreate anything then it would obviously give more attention to fortifications since they were used pretty much everywhere. They didn't do this because of authenticity.
Base building? What do you mean by that?
If you don't know what Base Building is you arn't a true RTS player :v: Alot of games removed proper base buildings and its annoying. Was removed from Dawn of war 2 and C&C and COH Which is annoying.
Do you like impregnable fortresses in middle of the map that are impossible to get rid of? I don't.
no, but I like making impregnable fortresses in the middle of the map when facing AI, which is about 99.9% of the time
So what RTS do you guys play if CoH2 doesn't satisfy your needs?
Do you like impregnable fortresses in middle of the map that are impossible to get rid of? I don't.
Ah yes the "impregnable fortress" that can be destroyed simply by getting one cheap unit in the vicinity and then just shelling the area with artillery. [editline]9th May 2014[/editline]
no, but I like making impregnable fortresses in the middle of the map when facing AI, which is about 99.9% of the time
Shame the AI has ridiculous balancing. Easy is too fucking easy and then after that it's way too fucking hard. But I'm terrible at the game so I'm probably not the best guy to judge.
So what RTS do you guys play if CoH2 doesn't satisfy your needs?
Men of War series.
So what RTS do you guys play if CoH2 doesn't satisfy your needs?
For newer games, Red Dergon is great, but stressful in all the shit you gotta keep track of. Dawn of War: Dark Crusade, Men of War series and the first Company of Heroes are still solid games, too.
So what RTS do you guys play if CoH2 doesn't satisfy your needs?
Men of War, Red Dragon, Sins of a solar empire, Supreme Commander CoH2 is compared to these as a hot-wheel is compared to a helicopter
I mean, I know what base building is, but what was his point? COH2 has slightly less base building than vCOH.
Streamlined building.
Streamlined building.
But COH2's base building is pretty much the same as vCOH's except that both the factions don't have a supply yard. You can skip T3 to get to T4 for example. You can basically skip everything but T4 as the Germans, not that it works. The Soviet's their base building is pretty much the same as the US in vCOH. [editline]10th May 2014[/editline] Honestly I think COH2 is a better game than vCOH. After playing COH2, playing vCOH feels really unpolished and weird, because you don't have the improvements to pathing and things like truesight and vaulting. I don't know what causes COH2's scale being smaller, as you actually have more popcap than vCOH, but I know what you mean. In 4v4's and 3v3's it can actually become quite big.
So what RTS do you guys play if CoH2 doesn't satisfy your needs?
Men of War, Command and Conquer (mainly Generals + Zero Hour), and the original CoH
CoH 1 could get pretty big in 1v1's, though. I think it's a combination of smaller maps and a camera that doesn't zoom as far out.
Actually the zoom distance in COH2 is slighty more, though you probably can't really see the difference because it's so minor. And the maps aren't any smaller because a few COH1 maps have been ported directly with only minor editing and they are as big as COH2's standard maps. I think it's just that there are way less sectors.
I prefer CoH1 with the Eastern Front mod.
