Hahahaha, it's funny seeing 30% of pirates with very high income still complain that they can't afford the games.

To be fair in the capital city theres like one shop for video games and online purchasing isn't possible for everyone. For many piracy is the only option.
but Ubisoft said it was 95%

I wonder which franchise *COUGH* CALL OF DUTY *COUGH* this guy is talking about. But yeah, you put an unreasonable price on something, people will just tell you to fuck off.
but Ubisoft said it was 95%
Did they do a poll or did they make an assumption?

Plus the income there is very low.

Man, I get the rest of that data but I know next to nobody that actually pirates games with the intent to buy them after.

They made up something to justify their super restrictive DRM.
The comments section on the article are fucking awful. Literally 1 comment in (the 400 euro Lithuania one) and all the responses are more or less " you are a thief". And even worse is they're serious.

Seen it too,its pretty saddening, because they dont care about his struggle, instead they trying to bash him as hard as they can.
Honestly? What the fuck is worth pirating anymore?
Last thing I snagged off of my friend's spare HDD full of things he legally purchased were a few movies made before 2000...
People pirate because they don't want to spend $60 on a stupidly overpriced AAA game that is nowhere near worth that much money.

Plus $20 - $60 for a Season Pass/DLC.
If i can buy a ton of games for the same price for your one game, I'm going to buy the smaller games.
I have probably spent more money on F2P titles than i have paid for P2P games. This is because with F2P games i can actually pay for a game as a form of "thank you for this game". And i'm not forced to pay full price for something i might not like.
There are too many games asking for too much and if you buy them that's it. Your money has left you and they don't usually care about you anymore. With F2P games devs have to keep game good for people to give you money.
As for pirating i mostly do it if i'm not sure if i want to buy something, so i basically demo it by pirating. If i can't even try game before buying the chances i will buy it are quite slim.
Stuff that i pirated and didn't pay for i wouldn't buy in the first place either so it's not loss for company.
But tbh now that theres steam and it's refund system you can try games without pirating. You can literally demo play game for <1 hour or something. So i actually don't even remember last time i pirated a game.
Bless the steam. Despite all it's flaws it is strongest measure against piracy at the moment.

not to mention sometimes games become unavailable legally due to licensing issues
stuff like music from commercial artists has been the primary reason games like jet set radio future or tony hawk can't see the light of day again on a legal storefront

Joke responses and household income ≠ the amount of money the person answering the survey has.
seriously, if i wanted to play pokemon HGSS legit right now I'd need to buy another DS and the game used, would would ring me around 150 dollars (HGSS right now is 90 to 100 dollars used)
or I can download a ROM, nintendo wouldn't be losing any money as all of these are used, it would only hurt scalper shitheads
and people don't realize why people pirate?

If you play a lot of video games you may very well have a hard time affording all of them.
One person might pirate one game because it's 60€ and they can't afford to buy these all the time, pirate another because it's 20€ and while they could afford that they don't feel it's worth it compared to other games that cost 20€, and still buy other games.
idk if im gonna get banned for this, but I pirated the sims 3 with expansions because it's outrageously expensive and never goes on sale.
I think the trend is important (higher income = higher percentage that can afford):

Games like SWAT 4 where you can't buy them on PC anymore unless you drop a cool $100 on Amazon for a second-hand copy.
I pirated Wolf TNO because it's blocked in Israel with no exceptions like censored version for Germany.
Did they do a poll or did they make an assumption?
The article says that 90% of PC gamers have pirated a game, and PC Gamer and Ubisoft probably got their data through similar means.
So they just twisted the wording of an actual fact to make it seem like every PC release suffers a 90% piracy rate.
You are all going to hate me for this but, I think piracy exists because a reason. The "I don't know if my PC can run a game" answer is outdated. The thing is, let's say you want to buy an awesome game that has just been announced and you follow the info they release. 3 months before the release you see they are gonna release a Season Pass ( which is a new way of robbing IMO), after that you read they (have the balls) to say they are gonna release more dlcs prior de season pass release (which means the season pass isn't going to cover all the dlcs) and if that wasn't enough, the game is 60 euros or even more.
No wonder why indie games are nowadays more popular than AAA, they are most of the time like 5 times cheaper and they don't (usually) have dlcs, but if they do, since the game is cheaper is more cheap anyways.
