Second monitor showing "no signal" via an active DP to DVI adapter

It used to work but now it's no longer working. I've checked that the monitor works through using my iGPU and testing it with another computer but for some reason it refuses to work with this adapter. I haven't made any changes since it was working.
The computer knows the screen is there. It shows up with the correct resolution, correct brand and correct physical size when going into the display settings. It's even active as a virtual screen so I can interact with it. It just won't show any picture and behaves as if there is no signal.

Should add, the monitor doesn't react at all if it's unplugged from the computer. It stays black. The computer reacts by removing the virtual monitor.
Probably a dead adapter. We get these all the time at work, we just cut our losses and replace them since they are cheap. What adapter is it?

Sapphire Adapter Active DP to SL-DVI. I suspect it's something else as this is the second adapter I've bought which isn't working. It's brand new and worked for 2 days top before stopping to function. The previous one didn't work at all. Cost me 50$ and it's the cheapest active adapter I could find, I can't afford to replace this at the time being.
I suppose it could be broken since my primary monitor doesn't work with it either. I know a lot of people have issues with DP in general with similar symptoms. Is there anything I could try that could work before I buy yet another adapter? Some people have had luck with draining the monitor of power, setting GPU to "maximum performance", getting the EDID of the monitor using another cable and then re-using it with DP etc.
