But they just revealed it? It's right there in the OP. Words mean nothing in gaming industry these days.
Seems like 60s/70s era. Here's hoping they won't ruin it, but who am I kidding.
Awesome, I loved mafia II so much that I have played through it about 5 times. I'm hoping this one is as good.

Oh and Miami too. With gators and marshlands.
hope it has the level of detail that mafia 2 had
Oh dude that is sweet! As said before, it definitely looks late 60s/the 70s. I find that a pretty cool time period for the game. Easily one of my favorite game series when it comes to the story. Hopefully they improved on things to do in the open world after you are done with the game.
EDIT: I see alligators in the water, probably set somewhere in the south like Louisiana, which would be pretty cool since I used to have family who had ties to the Louisiana mob in the 70s and 80s.

You're being a bit picky really. This is just the announcement, a reveal will actually show what the game looks like (although I doubt that it will be more than prerendered)

Mafia II was a game that I played expecting to be mediocre but BOY was I happily surprised how good the game actually was, real hidden gem that I would have never played if I wasn't told about it by a friend.
Safe to say im excited for this one.
Judging by the cars, seems to be set in the late '60s.
Fucking hyped for this.
Gonna toss it out there now for Mafia II lovers.
Play Mafia I, it is dated, and hard as fuck, but it has a nice story.

it's definitely not set somewhere like Louisiana. the bigger families had people everywhere to a certain extent in the mafia's hay day, but there wasn't anywhere close to enough activity in "the south" to justify setting the game there. there might be parts that are in Louisiana or similar places depending on how the game is designed but it'll most likely be in Florida.
Mafia 2 was fantastic even with as much cut content as it had. Hopefully they'll learn the right lesson from it and not "we can release a 50% game and still make sales for 5 years."

IDK, 2k has shitloads of cash to spare, maybe it'll turn out fine.

Why the hell would you expect it to be mediocre? Mafia 1 was an awesome game, everyone expected 2 to also be great.

I never played a Mafia game untill 2. Never heard much about it so i assumed it was nothing special.
I hope Mafia III has the great story of Mafia II, but always allows you to do take overs of part of the city like The Godfather.

Can't wait to return to that atmosphere
Oh fuck I'm hyped as hell for this.
Very excited for this one.
Kinda sad they ditched original font for a logo. Still pretty excited.

Here's to hoping that the overworld will have more to do.
Super pumped for this now, especially since I started replaying Mafia II without even knowing about this until now. Also, Louisiana seems like a very possible setting given that 2k had a casting earlier for characters in Louisiana. Even the teaser image looks pretty swampy. 70s Louisiana would be a wild setting to play with especially if you get swamp boats and shit. Burning up and down levees in muscle cars, yess.
Hyped as fuck for this, I just hope they don't cut out a lot content like they did in Mafia 2.

So we are going to be seeing an entirely new line of characters? Fuck, I really wanted to know what happened to Joe and Vito after the 2nd game.
I hope the open world is something akin to GTA, and while Mafia 2 was a great game, it wasn't much of a open world really.
I mean, you only had like 10 shops to go to, and you really didn't have much interaction with the world.

The massive problem with Mafia 1 was that they extremely cheaped out on English voice acting.
Mafia 1 (fully developed in Czech Republic) had absolutely fantastic voice acting done by many nation known actors and the quality of it was on the part with many cult films. It was just perfectly fucking golden and it made the game that came out in 2002, just year after bloody GTA 3 to play like a goddamn movie. It easily ranks as one of my most favourite games of all time.
Then I saw some videos from the English dumb and I wept sorrowfully, because it's just incredibly disappointing in comparison. All of the soul of the characters is done, and while it's still imho mechanically and gameplay wise an excellent game, it loses the most important thing - the, to this day absolutely amazing atmosphere and spirit.
