This is fucking gold, what's he gonna change his name to now?
Christopher Harris - ESPN.com Things just got much chattier in Massachusetts. The New England Patriots have acquired that mouthy entrepreneur himself, Chad Ochocinco, from the Cincinnati Bengals, ESPN's John Clayton reports. Ochocinco accepted a restructured three-year contract from the Patriots to get the deal done. Meanwhile, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Bengals will receive late-round draft picks in 2012 and 2013 for Ochocinco. It's no secret Bill Belichick has been a big fan of EightFive for years, right down to an exhibition game in '09, when "Esteban" Ochocinco booted an extra point and Belichick gushed. Now the Pats take another low-risk look at a veteran who talked his way out of a prior NFL home. Can it work? Will Ochocinco kindle memories of Randy Moss in '07? I don't think so. First of all, The Ocho might need a new number. Tight end Aaron Hernandez already owns 85. (Could another name change be in the offing? Or will Ocho simply buy Hernandez a bunch more tattoos?) More importantly, the Ochocinco I watched on game film from Cincinnati last year looked like he was shying away from contact. Great wheels were never his game, even when he was in his prime, so he needs physical route running and spectacular hands to be effective. I saw alligator arms galore in '10 and too many flamboyant displays of on-field frustration.
Source God even knows why the Patriots would trade for Ochocinco, he's a good wide receiver but it's not like he's amazing.
WRs always seem like the biggest dicks in the NFL and the fact that he changed his name to his jersey number pretty much makes him the biggest
I heard Ochocinco will be keeping 85 and Hernandez will have his number changed to 81.
I'm not sure if posting a sports related story on Facepunch is going to get that much attention.
He's still 85, and he's a damn good receiver when he has a half decent quarterback that can throw the ball to him. I think he'll reinvent himself for sure.
I think we all can agree that the funniest part of any story starring Ochocinco is his lack of understanding for Spanish numerals :v:.
I think we all can agree that the funniest part of any story starring Ochocinco is his lack of understanding for Spanish numerals :v:.
I am surprised that the dumb bastard can even put on his own jock strap.
I am surprised that the dumb bastard can even put on his own jock strap.
Can he :v:? [editline]30th July 2011[/editline] Also, Terrell Owens hands down takes the cake for biggest dick in the NFL. But, you gotta love his Touchdown celebrations
I am surprised that the dumb bastard can even put on his own jock strap.
Doesn't need to. He'll have some dumb broad put it on for him with the money he has. He's good WR. Patriots are looking to have a good season.
I am surprised that the dumb bastard can even put on his own jock strap.
he won't have to, with the way his and Belichek's relationship is described Belichek might as well just give him a good ole fashioned handy-dandy on the way there ahahah
I'm not sure if posting a sports related story on Facepunch is going to get that much attention.
To be honest I was gonna skip it over but when I actually read it it became hilarious And I don't even know the guy And I never watched a full game of football in my life
He's still a fruitcake for changing his name.
it's like if i changed my real life last name to FFStudios
Oh wow, his number is changing oh no!
Oh wow, his number is changing oh no!
The irony is that he changed his last name to be the same as his number... Did you read the thread?
The irony is that he changed his last name to be the same as his number... Did you read the thread?
Well there's not actually any irony because his number is still the same.
how are sports numbers even decided? i've never understood the system.
Oh wow, his number is changing oh no!
Ochocinco is his last name and it's his nickname; it's a core part of his persona. It's like if Terrell Owens was forced to change his initials from TO to TOW or something.
how are sports numbers even decided? i've never understood the system.
Players get to choose, but it depends on their position 0 and 00: Not allowed, but worn in the past 1–9: Quarterbacks, kickers, and punters . 10–19: Same as 1–9, plus (since 2004) wide receivers. 20–39: Runningbacks, fullbacks, cornerbacks, and safeties . 40-49: Same as 20–39, plus (when no numbers between 80 and 89 are available) tight ends. 50–59: Linebackers, offensive linemen, and defensive linemen. 60–79: Offensive linemen and defensive linemen. 80–89: Wide receivers and tight ends. 90–99: Linebackers and defensive linemen.
