http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supergroup_%28music%29 A supergroup is basically when several members of different bands get together, often as a sideproject. Example of supergroups: Head Wound City - members from The Locust, The Blood Brothers, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Holy Molar In this thread, talk about what would be your favourite supergroups, create your own. Pick your favourite members from different bands and put them together, try to imagine what the sound would be like. I'll start with one: Vocals - Rich Lombardi from Cloacal Kiss. He doesn't sound human, seriously. Guitar - Christopher "Arpmandude" Arp from PsyOpus. Amazing guitar playing. Drums - Jon Karel previously from The Number Twelve Looks Like You. His drumming is beautiful, and he's now actually in a band with Rich Lombardi called The Sawtooth Grin. Keyboardist - Erik Engstrom from HORSE the band. I just had to include him because I love keyboards and he's my favourite keyboardist. v:v:v As for bass I don't know, I don't even know the names of any cool bass players except Les Claypool, but he doesn't really fit in a group with the other guys here. :v: The sound of this band would just be the most amazing thing in the world.
Guitar & Vocals - Michael Akerfeldt of Opeth Guitar & Vocals - Steven Wilson of Porcupine Tree Bass Guitar - Chris Squire of Yes Drums - Gavin Harrison of Porcupine Tree Keyboard - Derek Sherinian of Planet X Honestly you could just get Akerfeldt in as the second guitarist of Porcupine Tree and you'd have the ultimate band there.
Vocals - Justin Bieber Guitar & Drums - The Jonas Brothers Keyboards - Richard David James Mixing and mastering - Merzbow :downs:
Vocals - Michael Kiske Guitars - Timo Tolkki and Dave Murray Bass - Geddy Lee Keyboards - Jens Johannson Drums - Ingo Schwichtenberg
Vocals - Michael Kiske Guitars - Timo Tolkki and Dave Murray Bass - Geddy Lee Keyboards - Jens Johannson Drums - Ingo Schwichtenberg
Haven't heard of any of them :v: What bands are they from?
Haven't heard of any of them :v: What bands are they from?
A band called Google.com
Vocals - Ian Kenny of Karnivool and Birds of Tokyo Lead Guitar - Alexi Laiho of Children of Bodom Rhythm Guitar - Wille Adler of Lamb of God Bass - Chris Wolstenholme of Muse Drums - Dave Grohl of Foo Fighters Wishful thinking.
That would be fucking terrible.
That would be fucking terrible.
Yeah, I realised after I posted it I was just listing members from bands I like. That said, the ones I listed are very good at what they do.
Steve Howe from Yes Carl Palmer from ELP John Whetton from King Crimson oh wait :smith:
Okay here's a little more serious try. Bass guitar & vocals - Caleb Scofield (of Cave In, Old Man Gloom and Zozobra) Lead guitar - Dave Knudson (of Botch and Minus the Bear) Rhythm guitar - Stephen Carpenter (of Deftones) Drums - Dave Turncrantz (of Russian Circles) Not so sure about the rhythm guitarist, but otherwise, shit would be wack. Honestly.
Vocals - Michael Stipe (R.E.M.) Guitar - Bek David Campbell (Beck) Bass - Flea (Red Hot Chili Peppers) Drums - Dave Grohl (Nirvana, Them Crooked Vultures) This should make some pretty good grungy alternative.
Vocals - Justin Bieber Guitar & Drums - The Jonas Brothers Keyboards - Richard David James Mixing and mastering - Merzbow :downs:
It was really funny for me because I know who's Merzbow
Steve Howe from Yes Carl Palmer from ELP John Whetton from King Crimson oh wait [img_thumb]http://www.progarchives.com/progressive_rock_discography_covers/813/cover_0191121102008.jpg[/img_thumb] :smith:
It may have been a pop-rock album but it was a damn good pop-rock album.
Lead Guitar: Jimi Hendrix Rhythm Guitar: Jimmy Page Bass Guitar: John Entwistle Drums: Neil Peart Vocals: Freddie Mercury Keyboards: Ray Manzarek
the problem with some supergroups is that usually the whole is better than the sum of its parts. for example, audioslave. soundgarden is great, rage against the machine is great, but together? not so much. or, if led zeppelin was robert plant, jimmy page, jon entwistle, and keith moon? probably wouldntve been so great either
what about when Hendrix was going to join ELP does that count as a fantasy supergroup
Vocals - Dave Mustaine (Megadeth), Bruce Dickinson(Iron Maiden), a good death metal vocalist (I've only just started getting into Death so I don't know people yet) and Lemmy (Motorhead). Guitar - Dave Murry (Iron Maiden), Dave Mustaine (Megadeth), Eddie Clarke (motorhead), and Chris Poland (Megadeth) Bass - Geddy Lee (Rush), David Ellefson (Megadeth), Lemmy (Motorhead) and Steve Harris (Iron Maiden), Ieuan Francis (Me, various bands) Drums - Phil Taylor (Motorhead), Clive Burr (Iron Maiden, before he was crippled by MS), Luke Bartels (A guy I know) and Nicko McBrain (Iron Maiden) [editline]24th January 2011[/editline] That'll need to be one big stage. [editline]24th January 2011[/editline] Ha I've got more bassists on that list than guitarists, but they'll all work as they are all very different bassists, and yes there are two members that aren't super, but Luke is the best drummer I've heard ever and I want some of the fame.
dave grohl - lead vocals + rhythm guitar dave mustaine - lead guitar dave ellefson - bass dave lombardo - drums super dave
dave grohl - lead vocals + rhythm guitar dave mustaine - lead guitar dave ellefson - bass dave lombardo - drums super dave
I personally would have Grohl on drums and Mustaine on vocals and Rhythm guitar and have Dave Murry on Lead guitar.
