Heath Ledger's production diary from 'The Dark Knight' was shown in German documentary series, 'Too Young to Die,' and chronicles Ledger's method exploration into the role of the Joker.
"BYE BYE."
The last words scrawled in Heath Ledger's production diary for "The Dark Knight" are as haunting as they are tragic.
thanks, needed that
In terms of Nolan-Style Batman you'd be hard pressed to get a better performance for the Joker from anyone else. I'm glad they didn't try to bring the character back with a different actor.

Jeez, that's really eerie.
"bye bye"
WHY
I'd imagine that when he wrote those words in his journal, he was so fucked up on drugs that he knew death was inevitable. He probably wanted to get an apology written down on paper, but it was so difficult to focus, all he was able to do was scribble those two words before succumbing to eternal darkness.

i think thats reading too much into things personally how do we know this diary is at all related to his death
i think its probably just an eerie coincidence

Considering it was probably about a year after he wrote the diary that he died it's pretty safe to say it wasn't. As much as people like to pretend the role of the Joker killed Ledger don't forget he was filming another movie entirely when he died, and this diary was from before they even started The Dark Knight.

I wasn't aware of that. In that case, this is just really fucking eerie, and must have been just about impossible for relatives to take.

Yup, Alex DeLarge, portrayed by Malcolm McDowell.

You called?
As a fan who prefers more accurate comic book adaptations, Ledger's Joker annoyed me. It was too different.
But holy hell, what they changed it to, he did it fantastically.

First 8 words explain that it wasn't his actual diary, it was a diary he made during production.

Yep, during production - but it was at the time when he locked himself in a motel room for six weeks in preparation for his role. And he stayed in character for all that time there.
they need to release this shit like they did the kurt cobain journals

For some reason all I noticed on that page was the PO Box address. Looks like Western Australia (his home town) but I can't quite work out the suburb, maybe Thornlie. Anyway, thought that was interesting, makes me wonder what sort of notes he was actually putting in that diary... specially on the BYE BYE page.
That's kinda creepy.
