They kinda boasted a little too much in the video, but it looks nice.
If you're looking for a less boastful and more real version of golden age iD work, check out these interviews with John Romero some guy named Matt did last year.

lol it's id
they could say they lay the foundation for most videogames today without even exaggerating
dude holy shit rage is going to be awesome
Pretty immense.
Carmack is one of the only true geniuses in the game dev world.

Id Software -> Quake Engine -> used by Valve for Half-Life
no HL1 without Id, yes they lay the foundation... most certainly

...john goodman?
Even if Rage is awesome, I still want my Doom.
Give me my Doom.

I heard it too! It was so disorienting because his character was a skinny muscular guy.
John Goodman just makes me like them even more.
only interesting thing was the sneek peek of the md6 format

Id are okay, but damn does that vid make them look cocky.
yep doom 3 sure delivered a groundbreaking gameplay experience.
not to mention its expansion, resurrection of evil, which featured a gravity gun- how did they come up with such a cool weapon?

jokes aside:
Id are masters for pretty much inventing the FPS-genre and their tech is pretty sweet, but Doom 3 was a glorified corridor shooter and while Rage looks cool it doesn't offer as much new on the gameplay front as they seem to say.

I thought Doom 3 was amazing
:(
All of Id's shooters are just so much fun, Doom 3 was mindblowing at the time and I enjoyed the shooter aspect even if it was very corridor focused, the feel of the weapons and game is just right, still looks great today. Played Quake 1 a few weeks ago and I still love it. A shame "tactical" shooters are so popular now because Rage will get shrugged off by many for being a fallout clone or something silly in favour of MW3/BF3.

You won't see a shit in DOOM 4

I thought Doom 3 was okay for the most part, but damn that depiction of hell made up for it 150%.

They actaully made the gravity gun before Valve did. It was in the files for doom 3, and they used it to clutter up rooms. It just wasn't available as a player weapon.
Ooh, I think they called out Battlefield 3 on the graphics front...
"We are arguably the best looking game on the consoles today, and the point is we are running it at 2 times the framerate of what other people might argue is the best looking console game there"
I think that was referring to Battlefield 3's 30fps console cap...
Yes because consoles are where groundbreaking graphics are defined.
Looks like borderlands but better.

Looks like borderlands before the went and shat it up with the sub par cellshading, but I really hope they'll walk the walk, they're probably making more hype than DNF, and look where that put gearbox.
