Are these idiots putting in a server browser in the game this time?
That map thing to see your squad on the tablet is pretty awesome.
I still don't get why they don't just put a server browser in the game. I don't care for the smartphone/tablet shit.
That geo-leaderboard, why would you want someone to know where you live? What the fuck.

OH I GET IT, it's for smashing nerds faces in who talk shit online.
With the tablet second screen feature, they fucking better support proper 2nd monitors. It would be stupid not to since the tech is already there. A lot of pc gamers have 2 monitors.
Are these idiots putting in a server browser in the game this time?
Yeah, there's always been a server browser.
I really don't see why people want an ingame server browser over a web-based one. I don't have to wait a minute or so for the game to launch and find a server, I can just search for one online or hell, my friend can LINK me the server's page so I can check it out.
Sometimes I don't even want to play BF3, and want to just check out what shit I wanna unlock or see who's playing. I shouldn't be forced to launch the game just to do that.

Put the Battlelog tab in the second monitor then?
i really don't understand this whole 'put the game on the tablet' thing
like, if i want to be a big bang bang shooty man i'll play battlefield, and when I'm bored of being a USMC navy seal OSCAR MIKE SPEC OPS THE LINE super shoot bang bang action man i'll stop playing battlefield
i don't give a toss about what's happening in the game when i'm not playing it
From the looks of it, Battlefield 4 will not have an In game server browser and campaign main menu like in Bad Company 2, again. Only the consoles will have a main menu hub for BF4 unless they decided to make players use the XBOX360 dashboard/PS3 XCross menu to access either the single player or multiplayer via disc.

The problem isn't the fact that people don't want Battlelog, the problem is that there's NO alternative. Want to join a different server? You have to close out, go back to your browser, and then after selecting the server have your entire game reload assets. Balls to you if it takes a long time to load after your game has to completely restart over and over. Oh, whats that? You froze for a second so Battlelog kicked you out and you have to do it all over again? Woo! Want to dedicate all your computer's resources to the game? Can't, because if you close your browser you get disconnected! I've had all of these problems and they'd all be solvable by a damn simple in-game server browser. It won't kill to have an in-game server browser AND Battlelog, but its stupid and vastly inconsiderate to only have one, especially when you consider the fact that the CONSOLE versions have server browsers. I really like Battlelog, its a cool suite of features but that doesn't mean we have to strip games of basic features just so they can force shit down our throats.
and whose fucking good idea was it to require your browser to still be open in the background while your game is running? jesus christ

I think it's pretty neat. Don't know how well it'll work, but I'm definitely going to try setting up my Nexus 7 next to my monitor and see what kind of stuff I can do with it.
[editline]25th July 2013[/editline]
And I really don't care about the Battlelog server browser. It's faster than almost all other games with server browsers and I can easily tab away when I'm in a server queue, instead of having to wait or alt-tab which is far less intuitive.
[editline]25th July 2013[/editline]
Name even a single benefit of the old server browser system.
I think BL is the greatest thing and I'm very happy BF4 gets it as well. In-game browsers are slow and suck major rotten flesh.
and whose fucking good idea was it to require your browser to still be open in the background while your game is running? jesus christ
What the fuck are you trying to run the game on? A Commodore 64? If your PC can run BF3, you sure as fuck can keep any modern web browser open in the background without it breaking anything. The CPU usage of the browser (assuming zero pinned tabs and BL open) is minimal, the RAM usage isn't a problem as Windows can prioritise.
Honestly, BattleLog works better than any in game browser DICE have ever created, they fucking suck at them. The BF2 one is a clusterfuck, slow and just not pleasant to look at, the BC2 one is broken half the time I use it, slow, clunky to navigate. BF3 doesn't take very long to reload once you exit it and choose a server, the game really only takes a few minutes at most to load on my PC (which has a slow ass HDD). Maybe they could fix it up so you can change server with the game open, that would be pretty nice. But seeing as BF3 doesn't break when you alt+tab, and DICE are awful at designing functional server browsers, I say BattleLog should stay. It offers nothing but benefits for PC users.

Convenience.
Thats what everyone's argument is though, not having to exit the game to find a new server.
Convenience.
"Ughh it's so hard for me to alt+tab to my browser with the server browser open already!"
Really? Convenience? It's no more convenient than BattleLog is currently.

Well, I like battlelog, it pretty much lets you do any thing menu wise out of the game except for changing settings. And really, even if the browser was in game, you would be in the same boat anyway. The game only launches and loads the map. You would be doing that if you were from a main menu. All battlelog does is cuts out a in game main menu. You launch the game right into the map.

allot of browser versions can get memory leaks, instability (if on beta) or have funny extensions that take up resources. At the end the of the day the expectation for allot of people when they choose to go experimental browser or whatnot is that they don't need it open all the time.

That's more a poor choice of browser than anything. Plus who doesn't have his browser open all the time nowadays. It's not like you're running on a Pentium 4 when you're trying to play BF3.

but what's wrong with an in game browser? other games do it just fine
but what's wrong with an in game browser? other games do it just fine
Do you know how silly these arguments sound? Battlelog is better across the board and the only reason you give is that "ingame browsers were just fine".
It took ages for the Bad Company 2 server browser to not be terrible, and even then it's worse than Battlelog.

This, i can't ever imagine being in a situation where i needed a battlefield Fix that much that i couldn't wait till i was sat at my PC. Tablet for commander mode is ok don't get me wrong i havent really go a problem with that, but beyond that is just pointless as far as im concerened.

I detest games with server browsers. Some of them are just unbearably awful. I'd rather have a somewhat functioning system like Battlelog instead of an awful server browser on par with Chivalry's.
[editline]25th July 2013[/editline]
Oh yeah other battlefield games have had AWFUL server browsers. DICE should never be allowed to make one of those ever again.
BF3's battlelog loads games just as fast as the in-game sever browser for BF2142 on my PC.

There you go, not everyone else has the exact same PC that can handle what battlelog does.
Especially mine.
See I love games with in-game browsers, because you don't have to exit out, you can just continue after you finish a game on a server.

Hopefully your being sarcastic.
For the first time in my life I literally screamed "THATS SO FUCKING RETARDED" at* (:v:) the screen.
