I'm trying to think of a word. It's an economic term for when people gain confidence in their government and start to buy more thus helping the economy even more. I'm pretty sure there's a specific term for it but i can't think of it. Does anyone know what word i'm thinking of? It's for an essay btw
inflation?
No, it's referring more to the consumers' happiness and confidence in the economy so they buy more. It can lead to inflation, eventually, i'm p sure.
i've always just called it Consumer Confidence, which leads to an increase in Consumer expenditure, increasing Aggregate Demand, and also causing some inflation.
I think it's just Consumer Confidence, or Trust. But I think perhaps there is another word, I crawled all over the internet using my google talents, but I could not find what you were looking for, sorry. Trust is defined as: Trust One of the most valuable economic assets, hard to create but easy to destory - a crucial ingredient of a country's social capital. People are more likely to do business together when they trust each other. Trust can reduce market failure that otherwise results from asymmetric information. When there is a lack of trust, people may have to spend heavily on monitoring others' behaviour to ensure they do what they say they will do. This cost may be so high that it is not worth going ahead with a business deal. When trust is absent, people may be less flexible in their dealings with each other. Countries can overcome some of the problems of a lack of trust by passing laws requiring good behaviour, but only to the extent that people trust that the laws will be enforced. One way in which companies seek to demonstrate that they can trust is by investing heavily in a brand. Consumer Confidence: How good consumers feel about their economic prospects. Measures of average consumer confidence can be a useful, though not infallible, indicators of how much consumers are likely to spend. Combined with measures such as business confidence, it can shed light on overall levels of economic activity.
