My friend wants me to get him an anti virus for his computer, but since i dont use one on mine, i dont know which is the best.

To be honest, [URL="http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/products/security-essentials"]Microsoft Security Essentials[/URL] is all you really need AND IT'S FREE. Use it along with Malwarebytes and you should be good. If not those two, try Kaspersky... it's the best paid-for anti-virus out there IMO.

I use common sense and [URL="http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/products/security-essentials"]Microsoft Security Essentials[/URL] and once a month do a malawarebytes scan. Neither ever picks up anything, your best form of defence is just common sense and good internet practise.
Last time I used a paid for anti-virus it kept picking up false positives and generally picking up stuff which I swear it had created.
