A man accused of staging his own kidnapping failed to quickly make cash when his mother wasn't willing to pay his ransom.
Zachery Logsdon, 25, of Knoxville, Tenn., allegedly sent his mother text messages on April 18 claiming his drug dealer was going to kill him if he didn't pay $200, Wave3.com reports.
Logsdon's mother repeatedly asked if he was telling the truth because, she told police, he had tried this scam before in order to get drug money, according to WBIR.com.
This time around, she called 911. With her help, investigators set up a meeting to drop off the money. When Logsdon came to get the cash, he saw investigators and ran, according to the Tennesseean newspaper.
After a short chase, Logsdon was taken into custody and charged with filing a false report and resisting arrest, Local8Now.com reports.
He is being held at the Knox County Jail in lieu of $3,500, or $3,300 more than the amount he allegedly asked for his fake ransom.
Knoxville Police Officer Darrell DeBusk told the New York Daily News, he was unsure why the suspect chose $200 as the ransom amount.
"That was just the amount he used. Why he used that amount, we don't know," he said.
He obviously needed the $200 to pay the drug dealer who kidnapped his drugs. :v:
Not only does he have the same name as me (save mine's spelt with a K), he has the same face as me. Like really that looks almost exactly like me.
That's kinda creepy.

My long lost twin is a slightly less then smart drug addict. Wonderful
So he faked his own kidnapping, then went to pickup the ransom money himself?
What I find interesting is that this moron managed to spot the police, were they being obvious or something?
WHY KNOXVILLE? WHY?
Why do we have to be in the news every. single. week? Do we just have a disproportionate amount of crazies? What's the deal here?
Also, I'm pretty sure I know someone who knows this guy.

The cops were probably hiding until he reached the drop zone, then they come out to arrest him, he sees it and runs away.
Too bad he didn't play it off as the kidnapper sending him in to bait the cops, that would have been smart. Then when no one is looking trash the phone. Better yet, why didn't he just buy a cheap burner phone?

If he was desperate enough to scam his own damn mom for $200, he probably didn't have money to put towards throw away phones, did he?
