Countless days playing NFS Underground on my PS2 listening to this song. It always takes me back to my care-free days.....
Only truly enjoyed their first two albums, but certainly didn't expect to hear this. His iconic slim-jim hair will be missed.
godammit later days wayne; you will be sorely missed.
There is no doubt that Static X was a part of my childhood, even though I haven't listened to them in years this saddens me. Whenever I think of Static X I have this memory of hanging out at the skate park with Cold playing in the background. Good times.
First Robin, now Wayne... my heroes are dying left and right... just please, not Grohl next. I'll miss you, you crazy sunuvabitch. You were one of the coolest.
I don't see Grohl dying anytime soon
I didn't see Robin Williams or Wayne Static dying anytime soon either. :(
Dave Grohl apart from his hideous coffee addiction seems to be perfectly healthy and happy to me.
Fucking Static-X was my first metal band what the fuck. Listening to them goes wayyyy back for me. Wish I could have seen them live. They better preserve his hair goddammit!
Thought I'd heard that name before. Used to listen to them a bit back in 06 after hearing them in a DBZ AMV I downloaded somewhere out of boredom. RIP
I know I wasn't the biggest fan of there music, but god dam it. Still a band I listen to when I was a kid. I remember as a kid, growing my hair out long, wake up, lay my head off the edge of my bed, put gel in my hair and tried to copy his hair style. Never worked out as planned.
I have not heard this band in a very long time... heard of them in 2002 when I was playing need for speed underground 2 up in Michigan with my bro for the summer vacation.
I really liked Wisconsin Death Trip. :( Statix-X was a band that my brother and I bonded over. Huge shame to hear this news.
The one band that got me in to Metal in the first place was Static-X. Huge shame that Wayne has died.
Sucks a lot, I like many others, listened to Static X as a kid a lot when I played video games. He was very unique visually, never have I seen anyone with the hair he had.
Man I use a few of their songs as workout music really gets you pumped. Also The Only was my jam in NFS. RIP.
How can we talk Static-X and NFS and not mention Skinny Man from Most Wanted?
Fuck man... I was going to see him Tuesday at the Powerman show... :'( Thanks for all the music man.

I think my first exposure to Static-X was also through games, but not NFS. It was Shaun Palmer's Pro Snowboarding (made by Neversoft, so think THPS but snowboarding). The song was This Is Not. Loved that song; anytime something was going on in my life that I didn't agree with and didn't feel like it "was me", I'd de-stress to that song. That sucks. Used to love Static-X when I was younger. Recently listened binge listened to their whole discography for nostalgia sake and "Wisconsin Death Trip" still holds up really well.
IMO was their last great album. Cannibal was interesting but not fulfilling, and then every other released wasn't worth it.
Am I the only person ever to actually like Cannibal?
3 days before his 49th birthday. Fucking hell.
IMO was their last great album. Cannibal was interesting but not fulfilling, and then every other released wasn't worth it.
Personally I thought Cannibal was their best album since Machine. Start a War and Shadow Zone where kinda me, the only real standout tracks on those two where the singles. Cult of Static was pretty shot though.
Sucks to hear this. One of my favorite bands, and he was a damn good vocalist.
I would like to thank everyone on behalf of all the Wayne's family and myself for all the kind words from all of Wayne's friends and fans and other bands. Wayne went very peacefully in his sleep and probably didn't even know that it happened. (Which makes me feel better that he wasn't in pain. )It will be sometime before we know why it happened but I will keep everyone informed. He had so much more to give the world. As his wife, biggest fan, and worshipper, i will keep him alive and finish everything that I can that he has been working on. He will never die and I want to share everything that I can that he has to give to his fans and friends. I will try my hardest to be stong and make him proud. -Tera Wray Static [Source]
So sounds like those drug overdose rumors can be put to rest.
