• Windows XP won't stop "Acquiring network address"

Hi everyone. In my journey to hosting an SRCDS server on my computer, I read that steam will be more likely to display your outside IP address if you add said address to your "Ip table" for the outgoing network card. It has worked for the most part - everyone is able to join via me on steam to my own server, showing my external ip address nearly all of the time. Very good. However, windows tells me that that adapter is trying to acquire an IP address, and it's been like that ever since I added the outside ip to the list. That adapter, on most circumstances, should have one single static IP: that being my LAN address. I don't know why it's sitting here now though, trying to acquire an IP address when it should already have it. I'm on Windows XP Home SP3, with an onboard Nvidia chipset hosting the ethernet port. Here's what ipconfig says for that adapter: [quote] Windows IP Configuration Host Name . . . . . . . . . . . . : glen Primary Dns Suffix . . . . . . . : Node Type . . . . . . . . . . . . : Unknown IP Routing Enabled. . . . . . . . : No WINS Proxy Enabled. . . . . . . . : Yes ... ... ... If anyone can help with this, that would be great. ~tgp1994
