• Recording guitar with a Line 6 Pocket Pod

I currently have my guitar running through the pod with an aux cable in the direct out port. The cable goes to the line in on my motherboard. I hear the guitar when I listen to the device but it's really raspy as if there is too much bass. I've screwed around with the sound properties, but I can't get it to be nice and clear like cover videos I've watched online. Do you think I need a soundcard to achieve a nice sound? Or is there something I'm missing with the settings? Thanks.

you'll need an interface as Yur|ko said, I've heard good things about http://www.thomann.de/se/maudio_fast_track.htm
The fast track is quite limited but good for recording just a guitar. Its also cheap which is an added bonus. Getting an interface is a pretty good investment though so you might want to save for something better like a roland quad capture. That said, you rarely get good sounds out of a guitar processor. I had a digitech RP500 that doubled as an interface, and even it was shit.
