Called Eden World Builder was recently released.
Lets you build shit and play sort of like how Minecraft Classic plays. Try it out!

It also has a built in level sharing system with a growing community. Here's an example of a community shared map:

Update: Apparently there's another Minecraft app coming out. Still unofficial, but is more like the real game than this, I suppose. http://www.facepunch.com/threads/1040689-Coming-Soon-to-iOS-Minecraft-World-Explorer
:byodood: It almost is Minecraft.
That's pretty darned impressive. I wonder if the terrain generation is on par with Minecraft, too.
Whoa. Now we need a survival mode.
There's a Minecraft texture pack for it too.

oh my god
mobilecraft has happened

I wouldn't risk $4 for it, I don't expect the same quality.

It's 59p on the UK store
Great game, but it needs an iPad version

I have an even better idea: Why not port it to PC and Mac?
I have an even better idea: Why not port it to PC and Mac?
Yeah, great idea, we should use Java, since it'll be cross platform.
The controls are a little fiddley
I wish notch would make an iOS minecraft, or let somebody else do so. Somebody on here was porting mc to android, and notch told them off for it.
I hope he does android first
I was pleasantly surprised when the TNT actually worked, but it's really slow on my 2nd generation.

Why would he do that when he can port it to the better mobile OS, Android. Plus Android apps run on Java so that means less work for him.

are you fucking retarded
notch doesn't have the same opinion as you you fuckface
he'll make it for both because it's more money
i don't even know where to start with as dense a motherfucker as you

Isn't this a blatant rip off or copyright infringement?
Isn't this a blatant rip off or copyright infringement?
Yup, probably.
Isn't this a blatant rip off or copyright infringement?
Yeah. It'd be better if they weren't making money from it.

I'm ashamed of the fact that I'll buy it anyway.
Yeah, great idea, we should use Java, since it'll be cross platform.
And why not add a wiki for it? And make a megathread in the Games section? This could be fucking great!
There was an actual (but non-official) Minecraft client released on the App Store a few weeks ago. It only had the ability to connect to Creative servers, though, so no alpha. It was pulled, but not by Apple... by the developer, who apparently wanted to get Notch's permission first.
In the mean time, this looks like fun.
Figures, nothing ever runs on my Iphone 3G anymore.
also, extreme programmer art

it's totally not like Android uses different APIs.
So does this work with an iPhone 3G, considering it works for the 2nd Generation iPod Touch?
[editline]6th December 2010[/editline]
Nevermind. It does run, with like 5FPS.
I expected this to be really laggy and ugly, but it's pretty much minecraft with different textures.
"The application Eden was not installed because it is incompatible with this iPod"
:(
Works fine on my 4g iPod touch
Only lag is with dynamite everywhere.
Does iOS support Java? Might sound dumb, I just haven't really worked with any apple products.
