Like many other universities this week, the University of Michigan Law School scheduled an event designed to help students recover from the trauma of Republican Donald Trump’s election victory. Unlike other schools, UMich Law was apparently so embarrassed when the Nov. 14 event made the news that it deleted the event listing. Total Frat Move reported Thursday on the event, titled “Post-election Self-care with Food and Play,” hosted by the law school’s “embedded psychologist” Reena Sheth. Here’s the description:
Join us for delicious and comforting food with opportunity to experience some stress-busting, self-care activities such as coloring sheets, play dough, positive card-making, Legos, and bubbles with your fellow law students.

According to The College Fix, the University of Michigan Law School’s embedded psychologist, Reena Sheth, was going to be the host of the “Self-care with Food and Play” event. Also, the University of Michigan Law School employs an “embedded psychologist.” She appears to be a full-time employee of the taxpayer-funded school. “My approach to therapy is integrative,” Sheth explains on her school webpage. “I draw upon relational-psychodynamic, existential-phenomenological, and indigenous mental health traditions.”
[t]http://www.thecollegefix.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/self-care-trump-play.UMich_Law_School.screenshot.jpg[/t] Sources: http://www.thecollegefix.com/post/29922/ http://dailycaller.com/2016/11/12/university-of-michigan-law-school-tries-and-fails-to-scrub-trump-trauma-play-doh-event-from-website/
Stress-relief activities are cool and all but... This seems... a bit much.
Imagine how patronised those students would feel to be offered fucking colouring in and play doh
Stress-relief activities are cool and all but... This seems... a bit much.
The oddity that it was listed for the Law school is the real kicker.
Okay, this is getting ridiculous.
Who put the Onion in charge of reality?
A better idea would be like a night out somewhere. Even something simple like bowling or rock climbing or something like that. That'd be fun.
Either the Onion is now writing reality, or they are going to be run out of business by reality.
"Reality is stranger than fiction" seems more real every day
A better idea would be like a night out somewhere. Even something simple like bowling or rock climbing or something like that. That'd be fun.
Or a stress release event that requires an ID for age. [sp]But seriously a Rock climbing event would do wonders.[/sp]
Better throw in nap time and show and tell while you're at it.
Stress-relief activities are cool and all but... This seems... a bit much.
I'm not surprised. My university sent out an email to the students and professors saying that some people might need legitimate psychiatric counseling in the coming weeks after the election.
My friend said that his mom had a class at my university where the Professor lead everyone outside to take a stroll through the campus for a hour to cope. Alot better than this event, but man some people are seriously emotionally wrecked.
What, no ball pit?
I dont know about you guys but eating junk food and playing with playdoh sounds like a fun time. Shit feels so good in your hands~
what's wrong with you guys this sounds chill as fuck
what's wrong with you guys this sounds chill as fuck
I would attend even if it wasnt for PTSD trump haters.
A better idea would be like a night out somewhere. Even something simple like bowling or rock climbing or something like that. That'd be fun.
Bowling would be fantastic.
what's wrong with you guys this sounds chill as fuck
Its not even necessarily the contents of the event, its more the context as to why its happening and who's attending it and their reasons why.
American colleges sound so weird man. We just have petting zoos and actual stress relieving exercises and stuff.
Bowling would be fantastic.
Get like 20 people together, go get some fuckin nachos and pretzels, spend a few hours bowling. Thats what i'd call a good evening.
"Reality is stranger than fiction" seems more real every day
you ask me, they should change it to read 'reality is fiction' now
Get like 20 people together, go get some fuckin nachos and pretzels, spend a few hours bowling. Even if you're totally shit and throw consistent gutter balls it's still a great time. Or if you've got some friends who can actually hold their own it's awesome to have some friendly competition.

I don't really see much of a problem, if the event was blatantly politicized to be about Trump then sure, but it just says post election. For all we know it might have been in talks beforehand since the election was polarizing as hell. Otherwise not a problem to offer stress relieving activities, especially for a law school. I mean if people are willing to attend for play-doh and colouring and find it fun, why not?
:ohno:
:cat:
I would attend even if it wasnt for PTSD trump haters.
It's childish is the problem.
:cat:
It's childish is the problem.
Look at this mature adult :) Rejecting things you find fun that aren't harmful in the name of "maturity" is immature af
I'd argue it's more fun if you're shit at it, as long as you don't take it seriously.
Either way, the point is you're going to have a great time. It's an excellent stress relieving activity.

I mean there's nothing wrong in theory with providing stress relief to students but hopefully they can handle themselves when they need to
