• British holidays to Greece ruined by inconsiderate Syrian refugees
Boat people from Syria and Afghanistan and British holidaymakers have clashed on Kos – as migrants have turned the Greek island, popular with cheap package deals, into a 'disgusting' hellhole. As families – enjoying some summer sun with their kids during the half term break – relax on sun loungers on the beach, just a yards away scores of migrants have set up camp, sleeping on cardboard boxes with rubbish strewn everywhere. Anne Servante, a nurse from Manchester, had come to Kos expecting a relaxing break with her husband Tony, a retired plumber. Instead her summer break has turned into a nightmare as penniless migrants who are in Greece to claim asylum sit outside their restaurant and watch them eat. Oh no, what a hellish life for those poor vacationers
Yes we shouldn't use DM as a source, but let's discuss the tone of the article. What would you do if you were there as a holidaymaker?
The top rated comments aren't actually bad this time... Wow
The top rated comments aren't actually bad this time... Wow

Oh dear. I'm so sorry your important middle class jolly holiday has been ruined by poor people with trivial things to worry about like where their next meal is coming from and where they will find a roof over their head and whether they'll ever see their relatives again.
:v:
They should fuck off back to where they came from if they don't like it. The holidaymakers, that is. I'm sorry, if you're offended by the fact that people would die if they stayed in their country and it means you can't have your cushty little summer holiday, you're a dickhead. [editline]28th May 2015[/editline] Imagine being so unsympathetic that you don't care about a war because there's a holiday to be had!

But then again, my dad's gf worked for the red cross and the UN doing disaster relief so a lot of our holidays was planned around that. Either that or my dad is a massive tight git and just loved those post tsunami deals
Yeah it sucks having your vacation "ruined" You know what sucks even more? Having to leave your country because of WAR and living on the streets somewhere else wondering what will happen the next day... C'mon, don't bitch about it as if you were gonna pass out after saying "Oh the horror!..."

If you went on Holdiay with Family/Friends to get away from it all and enjoy the beach. Would you be upset if Migrants started camping out in the town centre, if they were washing their clothes in the sea where you/your child have just been swimming? I'm pretty sure most people would be annoyed that reality has jumped into their little Holiday bubble and popped it.
I would find it hilarious to see if someone from the UK would be directly pulled into the war itself and to see if he could survive this without any kind of help :v:
Imagine being so unsympathetic that you don't care about someone that slaved away a year and just wants to rest?
Agree in part, a lot of people work very hard all year and so look forward to getting away from time to time. However it's all relative. We complain because we can't afford material things but forget that we have a decent standard of life when you see what others are missing. When I'm pissed off about something or think life is treating me badly, I stop and try to see the things I am lucky enough to have. I think it would be quite an eye opener.

I could tell it was Daily Mail just by the first two words in the OP.

I don't think the sight of poor people would ruin that for me. I'm not working regardless. However, my favorite vacation spot in the world is Ocean City, MD. It's full of trailer trash. Never before in my life have I seen so many mullets and rat tails outside of 80s movies. So I don't think that the "poor" part is a problem for me because that's pretty much my favorite thing about MY favorite vacation spot

People had to work for it to happen, to make sure their sons and the sons of their sons had it better then everyone's else. Then refugees come, and then tourists stop coming there because of them. Well, you are f*cked.
I misread it as "Assyrians" and wondered if I was dreaming because that made no sense at all. Maybe those brits should have chosen another place than the god damn Mediterranean for a vacation if they dont like refugees. Like, does nobody follow news around the world anymore?

There's always someone living a worse life, this kind of comparsions are pointless.
But you said "imagine being so unsympathetic" when the only ones who you were sympathising with were those on vacation, over those with no home, few clothes and no food... Who's unsympathetic?

These people would be under constant worry about their friends and family who weren't lucky enough to seek asylum and could possibly still be in Syria. Just because you worked your ass off to the bone to be fortunate enough for a holiday doesn't mean you should be bitching that these people need to respect that Also, yeah there's someone living a worse life but, holy fuck dude, they came out of a fucking war zone

I once posted a decent DailyMail article and got banned for it. Why is this any different because you're a mod?
