I got answers in my other thread about what gfx card to use but not is another issue, the processor.
I know AMD is cheaper but I have no experience with AMD at all and I have limited experience with Intel too.
If I'm going for Intel I'm gonna buy the Core 2 Quad Q6600.
If I'm going for AMD I'm probably gonna buy the Athlon X2 6400+
Help?
Oh yeah, if you have any other suggestions, please share them.
I personally Use AMD, Because as you said... They are cheaper. Which would allow you to factor the saved cash into say.. A better graphics card or some RAM.
However, The 775 Intel Socket will provide a greater upgrade opportunity in the future, As AMD seem to like changing socket every 10 minutes.
And that's coming from a hardcore AMD user :v:
To check performance in benchmarks against other processors:

Is a good resource, If your processor is not listed, Choose the closest one.
And be sure to check all aspects (Applications.. Memory bandwidth etc.)

Wow, Thanks for the response, that pretty much ended the thread.
Huge thank you.

Glad I helped :)
Go for the Q6600.
Right now, Intel's doing a little better than AMD.
I'm currently in the process of building a new rig, and I'm going to be using the Q6600.
I've always been a big fan of AMD, but they just haven't been able to keep up with Intel lately.
