• As cool as Macintosh computers look, I really don't see the point in them.

Sure, Apple has it's better products such as the iPod Touch, iPhone, and what will later on be- the iPad. Macintoshes; They have some good programs, a few cool features, and a semi-perfect OS for school based activites(as I've seen in the schools I've visited.) But when I look at it in another perspective, It's just not good for anything I'd need a computer to do; Gamin' and surfin' teh interwebz. Apple made a nearly perfect program for using the internet, but a Macintosh can't really do anything good as well as gaming or open sourced programs are concerned.
personal preference, end of.
personal preference, end of.
It's defidently a personal preference, but mine is leaned towords something more in my preference.
maybe because that's your personal preference
maybe because that's your personal preference
But I also want to say that the personal preference that I've seen in the past few years from the community I live in is usually leaning towords falling in between education and gaming. Not to mention that education and gaming can be exact oppisites or the same thing.
"It's just not good for anything I'd need a computer to do; Gamin' and surfin' teh interwebz." I'm pretty sure osx is plenty capable of getting on the internet :| Mac can do anything windows can do. Plus I doubt many normal computer users do much gaming anyway, so it doesn't really matter if they get a mac or windows based pc.
how do you prefer your eggs? sunny side up, easy-over, scrambled? well, however you like your eggs, that's because you personally like them that way. let's say Jimmy down the street likes his eggs a different way than you do. does this have anything to do with anything? no, it doesn't, Jimmy just likes his eggs that way because he personally likes them that way.

The OS feels much more complete and integrated than Windows. That's why I choose it. Everyone's entitled to their own opinion of course.

I'm just saying that there can be many betters to one than the other if you look at it in a way that you have your preferences(I fear I mixed up my words a little here) [editline]06:13PM[/editline]
The OS feels much more complete and integrated than Windows. They're perfectly fine for browsing the web, I personally think OS X in general is way better to browse the web than Windows and linux. Gaming I agree with, but that's because OS X isn't a gaming OS even tough there are some games on it. The perfect fit for most people that don't have a need to upgrde their computer parts every 3 months, is An iMac or Macbook with windows via bootcamp, you get good hardware, the best from both OS worlds. But then again, that's my opinion. One thing I can say about the different communities is that windows users seem to feel the need to bash anyone else, and Mac users are certain that their OS is the best and those two things doesn't fit together very well.

I just wanna say that this thread is my opinion on the Macintosh. I respect all opinions and I don't mind counter opinions and comments.
If you look at the OS itself in isolation, the only thing wrong with it is a faint air of pretension. When you look at the price tag you realise that it's more of a Fischer-Price play centre for adults.
The only problems with macs are 1) compatibility (mainly due to windows' dominance of the market) 2) price (no excuses here, macs are just too expensive compared to pc's, regardless of how good quality the parts are)
Yeah. Grubbing up discounts is an art, but the Macrumors spreadsheet takes some of the fun out of it.

Like it was said before, its preference, for example, my mum wanted a simple computer she could use without taking up loads of space on the desk, the iMac was perfect, she found it easy to use it for internet/work/music/etc and because she had a bit of money to spend she went and got the iMac,
If you game, Apple is not the way to go, but if you're into graphics design or general work, it's the best thing that fits the bill. Best thing about the Mac is, is that it can run Windows. So you're usually better off with a mac. However, the downside that keeps me from buying one, is that you can't expand it with better components (that easily?).
If you live where I live, there is a internet cafe everywhere you turn, followed by advertisements for freaking MW2 LAN games.
Lucky bastard. Well, as long as it has other games, MW2 is pretty shitty IMO. On topic. I agree. They do look nice, and they are expensive, but a lot of people like the differences and I respect that. The operating system is really the big difference, it's like what they like better.

I think you can use any graphics card if you booting into the windows partition, but unless it is like a ATi 4870/GTX 285 then it wont work in mac without modded drivers
Oh look. It's this thread again!
Crossover and Safari. 'Nuff Said Even though I'm not a Mac user, I still hate when someone says something completely illogical.
I'm gonna go get some Coco, Tell me more about Jimmy down the street.
Well, you see, Jimmy likes his eggs because he's the only one without a super-late night show.
