27 replies, posted
When i play the game it runs fine for 20 minutes then it starts to get crazy. It will start taking up 800,000 K (5 GB) of my ram. I also have srcds running in the background (This hasn't happened before) I have 8 GB if ram. I cannot figure out why it is doing this, Please help me i run a server and it is mandatory that i fix this. Thank You
It may say 800,000 K but my ram usage is 7 out of 8
It may say 800,000 K but my ram usage is 7 out of 8
Open Resource Monitor and find out what is taking up so much, applications that use the most are listed above, application using the littlest on the bottom. And as soon as you found the application, terminate it through Task Manager. in case you don't know, you can access Performance Monitor via Task Manager in the Performance tab.
It may say 800,000 K but my ram usage is 7 out of 8
So something else is the culprit, not GMod. 800k = 0.8 GB, not 5GB.
I have done the recourse monitor before and garryamod was the top on the list, srcds was taking up its usual 200,000 K If a full pc specs report is required i will do so. I will try giving gmod a try for 20 minutes and see what happens [editline]3rd August 2013[/editline] After having it open for about five minutes it has reached 1,000,000 K and is growing fast srcds is taking up 400,000 K (As usual) 75% of memory used And not relevant But Skype is at 200,000 K no current calls. And when i say K i mean KB
You need to download more RAM

RAM is not a issue I have 8GB dual channel RAM IS NOT the issue
1 million kilobytes is .95 GB why are you even playing garrysmod on your hosting server
RAM is not a issue I have 8GB dual channel RAM IS NOT the issue
Quantity ≠ Quality
I am playing it on the same pc cause i have never had this issue before
Did you change anything on your computer recently, such as update drivers? Have you gone a long time (more than six months) without updating your drivers? Have you ran malware scans on your system? Has it been more than a week since you rebooted? Verify the integrity of the Garry's Mod game files as well. If you have addons, remove them and try playing normally.
Al of those i have tryed, But to be safe i will scan for malware again
I asked questions in addition to suggesting advice. Garry needs to bring back Bad Reading.
Windows is telling my that i am low on memory but Gmod is taking 1,300,000, KB si why am i using up 7 gigs?
Do you have windows 8 by any chance? For some reason with mine my RAM usage and CPU usage will completely skyrocket for a few minutes and come back down
Did you actually look at each running application and see if it looks like it totals up to 8 GB in memory? How many processes are you running? You can take up 8 GB of RAM with only programs that take up 10MB each if you have 800 running.
No, the programs do not equal 8 GB but im using 7 out of 8 PLEASE HELP ME!
No, the programs do not equal 8 GB but im using 7 out of 8 PLEASE HELP ME!
Can you post a screenshot of task manager on the processes tab showing all processes? Also post the performance tab.
Uhhh, my pc went to a blackscreen and shut EVERY program down. :suicide:
Uhhh, my pc went to a blackscreen and shut EVERY program down. :suicide:
Reboot, give the computer a few minutes, post screenshots as instructed (without launching garry's mod), then launch garry's mod, run for a few minutes, and post screenshots again. If your computer was not built by you, do you have all bloatware removed (as in programs that come from the manufacturer of the computer).
Sorry for the late reply, family issues. Here is the norm screen shots also do you want my to run my server when i run gmod or just gmod? Everything looks normal there.
Let me go and launch gmod and the server now and see how it goes. The screenshots should be up in the next 5-10 minutes. Nothing looks out of place there, either.
This is rather strange. Take a screenshot of resource monitor on memory tab. It looks something like this: http://i.imgur.com/pIWf8ld.png
