North Korea: US not seeking regime change, says Rex Tillerson
The US government is not seeking a regime change in North Korea, the secretary of state says, amid tensions over Pyongyang's weapons programme.
"We're not your enemy," Rex Tillerson said, adding that the US wanted a dialogue at some point.
But a Republican senator said President Donald Trump had told him there would be a war with North Korea if its missile programme continued.
Pyongyang claimed its latest missile could hit the US west coast.
The second test of an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) on Friday, celebrated by North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, was the latest to be conducted in defiance of a United Nations ban.
"We do not seek a regime change, we do not seek the collapse of the regime, we do not seek an accelerated reunification of the peninsula, we do not seek an excuse to send our military north of the 38th parallel," said Mr Tillerson, referring to the border between the Koreas.
"We're not your enemy, we're not your threat but you're presenting an unacceptable threat to us and we have to respond."

Make up your damn mind lol
Of course not. Russia is supporting NK.
we have to respond
How?Only military invasion could stop Kim or we need something like financial crisis in China so they won't dare to intervene.
The problem with North Korea is that they're playing a dangerous game, like they're doing their best to provoke an attack. Even if they don't plan to fire the first shot, trying to have nuclear-armed submarines patrolling around in US waters is very likely going to force America's hand. There was a reason the Cuban Missile Crisis put the world on the very brink of global thermonuclear war. When that happens, both the US and NK get nuked. The US loses a few major cities, and North Korea gets glassed and wiped off the map.
Not good for either, really. But at least the former will survive the attack.
This reminds me of this one quote.

It does seem like they are trying to give the diplomacy one last try, so they can say afterwards that they tried to talk some sense into them. Either that or its all a ruse and they continue doing nothing and just keep fighting with words.
My prediction is that nothing will happen, it is the north-korea who has to make the first move for anything to escalate.

I'd agree with that prediction if someone with self-control and more than two brain cells to rub together was at the helm of the USA. As things stand, Donald Trump is not that man. Who can say? Maybe that was Putin's plan all along.

One option, I suppose, would be to somehow smuggle a tactical nuclear device over land to Pyongyang and catch Kim and almost all of the military leadership at one of their many publicity events. Cut the head off the snake. There'll likely still be a dead man's switch scenario that'll provoke retaliation, but it'll ensure NK's ability to fight back effectively will be gone.
Someone should send the A-Team in, and then make a movie afterwards
I thought it was obvious. Far better the nation is divided up between China and South Korea.

Russia is not going to sacrifice themselves on the altar of nuclear fire for North Korea
Not really a surprise, the US loves dictatorships. Trouble is they only love dictatorships when they're on the US's side.
