• Need help. Recording Studio build. Around $750.

My friend has recently came to me with a proposal. We wants me to build him a new computer for his recording studio. He is an amateur recorder/producer. He produces his own beats and sells them, he makes some good money on it. Right now he is doing this on his HP Pavillion, he wants a new desktop to get settled on. I can build computers, I've done it before. The only reason I need help is because I haven't done so in a long time, and I know longer know what the "standards" are when someone asks, "What is a good processor?" He said that anywhere from $500 - $750 would be the sweet spot as far as price. He prefers Intel, but only because he has heard about them more. He probably wouldn't care if he got AMD. He also wants at least 1tb of storage and 6gb of ram. As far as special inputs go, he doesn't need anything special really, but a soundcard with midi input would be nice. Also, the monitor does not need to be included in the cost So any help or recommendations?
6GB RAM is generally triple-channel, meaning an i7 setup, meaning overkill and possibly out of budget. Does he need gaming capability? (i.e., does he need a capable graphics card, or is a modest/integrated one adequate). Take a look over here for sound related advice: http://www.head-fi.org/forum/ Where are you? Canada? States? Australia? South Africa??
United States, and he just needs modest graphics. Something to allow him to run a dual display.
I'll post the shit I'm using in mine, give me a minute. [editline]09:41PM[/editline] So it turns out the system I'm using for recording goes a bit above your budget: http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/PublicWishDetail.aspx?WishListNumber=13122285 I had a bunch of combo deals when I bought mine, it was around $850 then. [editline]09:43PM[/editline] still a good starting point, at least
I think it's best to save up and get ButtsexV2's build. Then you won't have to replace so fast.

I think a Xeon may be a bit too much if his friend is a-ok on an only media centre atm.
