My HP Pavilion dv6 running Windows 7 is telling me that it's plugged in, but not charging. This would be an almost non issue, but the battery is at 18 percent and it won't start fucking charging. I checked all the power settings and set them to default, but to no avail. I am at a loss here. I searched online and there are no answers, only people with the same issue, especially for Windows Vista. Some places said to switch the power adapter. Oh yeah, like everyone has a spare 60 dollar power adapter for their laptop laying around. I need to get this fixed. It is so damn annoying.
Generally, if that happens often, it means either the connector inside the laptop is bad, or the power adapter is bad. Your best hope is to replace the adapter and hope that it starts working, otherwise you need to send in the laptop to be fixed.
When I did PC repair, this came in a lot. Unfortunately I've never found a way that always worked. One that had the most success for me though was to unplug, take the battery out, plug it in (boot up too) without the battery, shutdown, put the battery back in, boot, plug in. Don't ask me why, but it sometimes would do the trick. Best of luck to you.
Windows 7 seems to have a problem with battery charging. Google it.
