Hey guys, i think that i have been screwed over for college. This is getting me really worried because, my mom, she put in my financial aid for my college and she told me herself that it went through and was accepted so i thought nothing else of it. I applied for my classes and i can't wait to start, but my mom calls me while i'm sleeping over a friends house and tells me that a mail came in the letter saying i need to pay for my classes by Tuesday. That's in 5 days, so i hurriedly checked my webadvisor on the website and it says i got no financial aid. I'm literally freaking out right now, i am planning on calling them in a bit to ask them what happened to my financial aid. My family's mad tight on money like everyone probably and wouldn't be able to afford this. Just thought i'd get this off my chest and relieve some of my nervousness. TL:DR Financial aid didn't go through, might not be able to go to college since i can't pay for tuition and crap.
Come to Scotland. Where education is freeeeee
Whore your self into college
Phone them tell them it hasn't gone through, ask for an extention.
The thing is, my mom said it went through, i don't know how I'm going to explain to them that i thought it went through this whole time.
Come to Scotland. Where education is freeeeee
Not unless you're scottish. Just phone them.
which college? is the tuition super high
The thing is, my mom said it went through, i don't know how I'm going to explain to them that i thought it went through this whole time.
Just tell them exactly what happened. A lot of colleges offer the option for later payment. You're going to have to front a bit of cash regardless, but you won't have to pay for the entirety of your tuition for the time being. You'll just have to remember that you will owe that money regardless of what you do there. For example, if you opt to pay later and end up dropping a class, you don't get to get out of paying for that class. You'll still have to pay for it even if you dropped it before payment time. It really depends. Honestly, I think the situation is pretty much your fault. Almost every college has a website in which you can check your financial aid status and whatnot. You can't really go around saying "Well I didn't know blah blah blah" when the resources to check up on it have been provided to you since day one. You're going to college. You're a grown ass adult. You need to learn how to stay on top of things yourself.
What college? If you really are not in the financial aid program, get an extention and student loans, it would be p. much the only way
I'm going to St. Johns. I know i should have been on top of it, but i had no way of checking cause i didn't get any email or anything on how to check, i even emailed them and it didn't help. I only got a way to check it when i went to apply for classes and they gave me my webadvisor account and stuff, only then was i able to check my financial aid status. But maybe, i just realized, maybe it says that i got nothing for financial aid because my mom sent in the forms ahead of time and i got my webadvisor account made on that day, so my financial aid wasn't placed into that account yet. I may still have a chance if that's the case.

Silly Americans having to pay for college.
Silly Americans having to pay for college.
yeah it fucking sucks, but our taxes are lower so once you pay off your mountain of debt with a good college level job, you can spend more of your own money. getting there is the hard part though. :smithicide:
If worse comes to worse just take out a student loan for a semester until your financial aid comes through. I'm glad I live in Georgia though, we get the Hope Scholarship and Grant which covers my Tuition completely and gives me an allowance for books.

I'd assume you can just contact them and tell them they've made a mistake. The British student finance people are useless it takes wayy too long to process for grants/loans and their always making mistakes.
Come to Finland, here the government also give you over 700 bucks a month for living in addition to the free education.
Well school is free here, so I don't know anything about your problem. And ^ too, but only if you have good grades, awards etc.
the FUCK how much does it cover, 20k/yr school or 50k/yr?
It's like 30-35k depending on what you qualify for. I've got the max allowance which is wonderful.
there's no way it's easy to get that holy shit a grant for 30k is insane I get max 8k/year
I literally have the same problem man, it sucks :/
Come to Finland, here the government also give you over 700 bucks a month for living in addition to the free education.
This And its more like 900
Come to Scotland. Where education is freeeeee
I love this country and everything in it. Even our ridiculous words. Jakies? Hahaha. That so funny to me.
Paid my first term tuition. Feels good man. :smug: If I were you I'd go to the college as soon as possible and make a down payment.
I payed my full tuition for three years... before discovering that I could skip paying it because my father works in the educational system... And best of it all, is that am dropping univ to do something else, now... rate me gaybows if you think I should rape a milf :frown:
that's not how it works
Don't fucking tell me that's not how it works when I was presented with that option. The deadline for paying my tuition for my first semester of college was coming up last year and my bank still hadn't given me my loan money yet. The school told me that if I didn't get that money by the deadline, I could front a sum of cash that would allow me to enroll for the semester, but I wouldn't be able to sign up for classes for the next semester or anything like that until I paid the full tuition. Luckily, I got the funds from the bank the day of the deadline, so I didn't have to go through all of that hassle. But once again, to the OP, the entire "I didn't know" excuse doesn't work in the real world. If you didn't know how to access your financial aid online, you should have called them and asked how to do so. Things aren't handed to you on a silver platter like they are in HS, they don't walk you through everything. When it comes down to college, you are responsible for all of your paperwork, and they aren't going to constantly remind you to do it.
there's no way it's easy to get that holy shit a grant for 30k is insane I get max 8k/year
Georgia's wanting to improve it's education rates and such since the lack of education has caused so many problems here that the governor wanted something to encourage graduates to continue their schooling.
I got my username from my bboy name haha.

I shouldn't talk, I'm Canadian. I have to pay for college too.
What's so wrong with public education?
College is free in the UK? Fuck, I feel like I'm living in the stone age.
