[release]So scrounging around for stuff, I found this old Compaq Presario 1800T. Specs of this bad boy:
Intel Pentium II 400mhz 192mb SDD Ram 15.1 in. screen A whopping 10gb HD (Wasn't in there though)
Back in 2000 this market breaker sold for over $3000 MSRP. So.. anyone got any ideas on what to do with it? The only thing I can think of doing is something useful with the screen.[/release]
Server.
Throw it at your enemies
Server.
I don't have a copy of 98 to put on there, or a hard drive for that matter.

Make a reaction video for youtube. Just record yourself getting mad at the computer then throw it at a wall and beat it with a sledge hammer.
Play old classics you may have missed.
Don't you think it'd run slow on a 400mhz? And it has a CD drive in it.
I ran Ubuntu 10.10 server on a Pentium II 333 Mhz. Ran torrents and everything and worked exclusively with a 500 GB USB hard drive. Although, I had 512 MB of RAM, so that could be an issue.
2 person minecraft server would need a hard drive though
It's got a USB, so external HD is an option for a server. But you know, I could always use my spare server sitting next to me.
Make a reaction video for youtube. Throw it out.
Laptops from that era are tough as old boots, I still have my Dell Inspiron 4000 lying around. It can run Age of Empires II, which I sometimes pull out for nostalgia and fun. If you honestly have no use for it (since you already have a server), either fix it up a little and give it to someone without a computer (poor family?) or someone's kid as a "my first computer" kind of thing. Puppy linux will run fine on it, and puppy is easy to use once you've got it installed. I ran it on a PIII 600 MHz toshi with 192 MB of RAM, 12 GB HDD, worked fine.
Hah I used to have on of those badass killing machines. Honestly, it'll be good for doing pointless things on like experimenting with linux or hosting a server. Stick a hard drive in that thing.
Sucks it's not an AMD laptop. Back then, AMD laptops basically used desktop CPUs in them. I used to have a Presario (forgot the model) but it had a 450 MHz AMD K6/2 in a super socket 7. I upgraded it to an AMD K6/2 550 and it worked great for a long time until it died one day. I didn't have the original power adapter for it and used one with less volts and more amps, which probably slowly killed it.
Make a USB boot floppy using plop http://www.plop.at/en/bootmanager.html and use USB media to install and run a OS of your choice.
