[t]http://i.imgur.com/tJxUv86.jpg[/t] (Timothy Davison)
A Maine man was shot and killed early Saturday morning in an apparent road rage incident along Interstate 81 near Greencastle, Pa., according to the Pennsylvania State Police.… Davison described the attack to 911 operators before dying from his wounds, state police said. The incident took place just after 2 a.m. along the southbound lanes of the interstate near Exit 3, the exit for Route 11 in Antrim Township. Davison called 911 while he was traveling north along I-81 and told operators he was being followed by a Ford Ranger-style truck and that one of the occupants of the truck was firing a weapon at him, state police. The suspect then rammed Davison’s vehicle, forcing him into the median near the southbound lanes of the interstate, police said. After Davison’s vehicle became disabled, the suspect approached him and fired several rounds into the vehicle, police said. Davison later died from his injuries at York Hospital.
[t]http://i.imgur.com/nGokP9l.jpg[/t] (Timothy's Mitsubish Montero, where everything ended) BangorDailyNews Been all over the local news, havent seen it posted and didnt come up when i searched Pretty scary situation and sad story to me, sure hope they find the guy(s) that did it Update Jan 11 New details; Details point to it not being a 'road rage' incident, there is no evidence that Davison did anything to cause this Most likely not connected to two other somewhat similar shootings in the area Shooters pickup is confirmed to be a dark colored Ford Ranger XLT, will have damage to front left door and quarter panel, possibly silver paint scraping Total chase lasted 13-15 miles, starting in Maryland before ending a few miles into Penn. Got a taskforce working on the case.
Many questions surround the fatal "road rage" shooting on Interstate 81, but police have been quiet save for a release announcing the formation of a multi-agency task force. The task force will be composed of the Pennsylvania State Police, Maryland State Police, Carroll Township Police Department and the FBI. [...] The statement expressed concern about the potential for another shooting. "The acts committed against Mr. Davison were random only to the point of his initial encounter with his assailant. Beyond that, the acts against him were very calculated, deliberate and violent," the release stated. "With that said, the potential for additional incidents of a similar nature is anticipated due to the violent nature of this incident." When I hear "road rage shooting" I imagine two guys arguing and one pulling a gun, not someone in a truck following a guy and then ramming him into a ditch at 2AM before firing indiscriminately in his general direction. Honestly that sounds more like straight-up murder.
both of what you described would be murder. thats kind of what murder is.
Hes not exactly contesting the murder part, just whether it was really a 'road rage' murder, or just straight up murder. Its hard to really classify this without knowing the killer's mindset and if this truly was a planned attack , rather than the killer actually having road rage due to some incident and this not being a planned attack
Bit of an update on this. New details; Details point to it not being a 'road rage' incident, there is no evidence that Davison did anything to cause this Most likely not connected to two other somewhat similar shootings in the area Shooters pickup is confirmed to be a dark colored Ford Ranger XLT, will have damage to front left door and quarter panel, possibly silver paint scraping Total chase lasted 13-15 miles, starting in Maryland before ending a few miles into Penn. Honestly that sounds more like straight-up murder.
There was one time when I saw some guy in a van keep trying to shove a guy on a scooter into oncoming traffic in the opposite-direction lanes. When the guy on the scooter u-turned to get the hell out of there, the guy in the van followed him. Don't know what happened after that.
Killer made the fatal (pun?) mistake of crossing state line, then returning back. The FBI will sniff him out.
Update; Killer still not found. Reward upped to $10,000 for information leading to killers arrest Letter sent to FCC, to investigate why call was dropped between Maryland and Penn. Another small update: The killer still has not been found The vehicle has been narrowed down to a 93-97 dark blue Ford Ranger Again, if you are in the MD/PA area, spread the word
I really hope Secondary man is okay.
This is why you don't leave Maine everywhere else is so scary. :tinfoil:
This is why you don't leave Maine everywhere else is so scary. :tinfoil:
But the killers were from Maine, which means the crime spans 3 states, which means the FBI gets jurisdiction now.
If he fired indiscriminately at the vehicle, technically this would be voluntary manslaughter. Sick of people calling everything "murder".
If he fired indiscriminately at the vehicle, technically this would be voluntary manslaughter. (b) Unreasonable belief killing justifiable.--A person who intentionally or knowingly kills an individual commits voluntary manslaughter if at the time of the killing he believes the circumstances to be such that, if they existed, would justify the killing under Chapter 5 of this title (relating to general principles of justification), but his belief is unreasonable.

How is the above post relevant given there seems to be no action that caused the murder to occur? That is to say- this seems to be a randomly targeted person and not someone in a road rage incident.
blankquote

(a) Murder is the unlawful killing of a human being with malice aforethought. Every murder perpetrated by poison, lying in wait, or any other kind of willful, deliberate, malicious, and premeditated killing; or committed in the perpetration of, or attempt to perpetrate, any arson, escape, murder, kidnapping, treason, espionage, sabotage, aggravated sexual abuse or sexual abuse, child abuse, burglary, or robbery; or perpetrated as part of a pattern or practice of assault or torture against a child or children; or perpetrated from a premeditated design unlawfully and maliciously to effect the death of any human being other than him who is killed, is murder in the first degree. Any other murder is murder in the second degree.
The guy RAMMED the victim off his road, got out of his car, and shot him to death. It wasn't accidental or a heat of the moment killing. He was chased for over 10 miles through 2 different states while being shot at the whole time.
With any luck, he isn't still in the area. It's scary having something like that happen in the town I call home. Doesn't help that both my mother and stepfather commute on the same highway every weekday, but I'll tell them to keep an eye out. [sp]The bastard also caused a massive traffic backup the very same day I was going to go to college, and my favorite local restaurant was jam-packed because of it. How inconsiderate of him.[/sp]
This looks like an assassination.
Thank you for keeping this incident alive on your forum. I am Asti Davison's mother, Theresa. The chase actually began in WV and for some reason misinformation has been out that it started in MD. There was a lot of traffic on I-81 at 2:00ish in the morning and someone must have saw the Ford in the south bound lane while my son's vehicle was in the median. We need any vwitnesses to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-4PA-TIPS or post on our JUSTICEFORASTI.COM site. As a family we are offering $10K reward above the Crime Stopppers $10K reward and family & friends continue to contribute. Police are also asking body shops or repair shops to call in. I'm also thinking that who ever did this is going to tell at least someone else. Rumors spread. If someone hears something at the local StopNShop, pool hall, local bar, grocery store, where ever OR you have a gut feeling that maybe it's the nice neighbor who use to drive his truck but is now driving his VW... please call or contact us. All tips are appreciated. If you know of any other forums, will you please forward this? Thank you so much!
If he fired indiscriminately at the vehicle, technically this would be voluntary manslaughter. Sick of people calling everything "murder".
No, it's cold-blooded fucking murder, you idiot. Anyone who fires a gun at another human being is firing a deadly weapon at them, a weapon designed to kill. There's no 'didn't intend to kill' defense, and this sure as hell wasn't self-defense. [editline]8th March 2014[/editline] Pardon my french. Such news pisses me off. Theresa, hang in there. The scumbag can't evade the law for long.
