Gotta admit I didn't like it anywhere near as much as Company of Heroes 1. I just want Relic to start working on Dawn of War 3 now.
And another review that barely skims over the Multiplayer, why am I not surprised.
And another review that barely skims over the Multiplayer, why am I not surprised.
You mean the multiplayer where if you get 100 kills with machine guns they become more accurate? Because flat statistical boosts for earning an arbitrary achievement sure adds a lot to the real time strategy environment.
This game was a huge disappointment. Relic have really gone downhill. Retribution (their last release) was pretty lackluster too. AND THEY'RE STILL USING THE (HORRIBLE) CoH1 INFANTRY ANIMATIONS SERIOUSLY WHAT THE FUCK

Ideally from an automatch perspective. Since that it the most important part of the game.

Normally I'd blame the publisher for marketing decisions, but look at how much garbage DLC there is for DoW2.

I dunno, something tells me this easily could have been an expansion pack.

Soldier's were trained to move a specific way to avoid friendly fire, you could identify each side by their stance if you couldn't see them clearly, oddly enough. Retribution was good, it didn't cost 60 dollars for starters, it had it completely ditch the dated windows live shit and provided the imperial guards to play with, also opened up a bunch of new campaigns, though they're not that original ill be honest. I just got done playing a round of company of heroes 2, I'll say it didn't greatly exceed my expectations, but I'll be damned if it didn't meet them.
I dunno, something tells me this easily could have been an expansion pack.
Blitzkrieg and Eastern Front add about as much to CoH1 as you get paying $60 for CoH2. Says more about the quality of those mods than it says about Relic though.
I just got done playing a round of company of heroes 2, I'll say it didn't greatly exceed my expectations, but I'll be damned if it didn't meet them.
I think it's a good RTS, just not much has changed and it has very questionable design decisions.
Can little change really be a bad thing? I will agree that the difficulty is whacked, and the difficulty ramps up in alot of parts to kick the player in balls. The story could have also been done better or had a different approach; I really didn't feel it offer much.

I was neutral about the campaign but the new COOP play is really cool.

I like CoH2, but 60 bucks is a bit much.
it's even worse in parts of Europe where for some reason it's 80 euro (which is about 100 dollars)
That's only the collectors edition though. I have no fucking idea what the advantage of the collectors edition over the normal one is though since there aren't any physical goodies because it's on Steam and aren't the goodies the only reason to pay more?
I honestly think one of the reasons why this is getting top sales right now (other than its brand name) is because the RTS genre has honestly had fuck-all going on with it for a couple of years now it feels like I love RTS games but last time I played one was SupCom2 around launch, and enjoyed my time with it (but its no supcom1, in that it doesn't last nearly as long on my hard drive). Reviews seem really polarized and the mostly-positive reviews seem to be more or less "well, CoH1 was really great, and this one is basically just that so!" I guess if you've not been playing RTS's for a while or haven't gotten into CoH, or miss the good ol' days, then this is a pretty good buy if you really want to blow $60 on it (lol).
i liked COH2, but im not paying 60$ for it.
