Security guards unlocked the classroom door at Mesa Linda Middle School in Victorville after assuming teacher Tamara Dawe had not shown up for work yesterday morning, the Victorville Daily Press reports.
As students filed into the classroom one yelled out, "Mrs Dawe fell down", Adelanto School District assistant superintendent Ross Swearingen told the newspaper.
"The security officer rushed over to her and saw that she had passed away," Swearingen said.
"He quickly rushed the students out and we were able to get their parents to the school quickly and to have them speak to a counsellor."
The 40-year-old English teacher died of natural causes and there was no sign of foul play, police said.
A mother of one of the 12-year-old students who saw Mrs Dawe lying on the floor said two students also used their mobile phones to call 911.
The mother said the teacher was wearing the same clothes she had been wearing the day before, suggesting she died while working in her classroom on Tuesday night.
School secretary Khristina Root told the Daily Press that Mrs Dawe was a well-liked and dedicated teacher. "She was the kind of person that just made your day better," she said.
"She loved what she did and loved her students."

Dying at 40 from natural causes? Wtf
lazy journalism
what actually caused her to die?
Dying at 40 from natural causes? Wtf
Heart Attack, most likely. Or probably just journalism

If you don't take care of your health, you can die of "natural causes" at any age, really.
don't forget to post your source

Yep journalism is a pretty common cause of death.
Oh my god.
There was at least one kid quietly going "YAAAY!" to himself, I'm sure.

I don't know. Maybe she was a good teacher.
This would be a terrible thing to experience.

I'd be fuckin decimated if I found one of my teachers dead, though then again I was the only one at my school to treat em like proper people
but yeah probably not
I once came back from vacation back in school and we got told our history teacher died. We weren't even present for that and it was still pretty shocking. Hope the kids will be okay.
To be honest, as a kid, while waiting for a class, I wished numerous times to find out the teacher died somewhere and that the class will get cancelled.

Some teachers are just plain vile. It's always been the older ones though.

I doubt it. If a teacher that I absolutely hated died I wouldn't happy. Any death is sad and I know most think the same.

even the older teachers have usually had a breakable shell. really you just needed to be nice, formal, and humorous (but not in a dark or smart-ass way or else it'd backfire) and they'd be relatively nice to you.
Our class found a sub unconcious on the ground one day but never dead lol

Usually. But I had one that was so fucking crazy that they had to put a camera in the classroom and the parents put recorders in their kids bags. This was like 7 years ago. She was an ultra orthodox conservative that hated non-christians and hit kids. I'll just leave it at that. Shame that she couldn't have taken this English teacher's place.
Reminds me of a few years ago when one of my teachers committed suicide..Of course, not in the school, but everyone was told the day after..He was really young, and I rather liked him, he was laid back and chill.. Man, that was one shitty week.

Same.
The rest of my class just set things on fire to see the teacher's reactions.
Literally set things on fire.
yoU KNOW WHAT KILLS PEOPLE
THE MEDIA MAN

Well, knowing my fellow students they'd probably call 911 and celebrate at mcdonalds...
My teacher fell down during our lesson.
Was rushed to hospital and died the next day.

I would be sad if any of my teachers died, regardless of who they were.
Yep journalism is a pretty common cause of death.
You know what they say, sensationalism killed the cat.
There was a teacher who died in my school and they announced it over the intercom. My spanish teacher started crying in front of us even though she was trying as hard as she could not to. Nobody really knew how to help and she just walked out of the room and didn't come back.
My old history teacher said that when he was a kid one of their teachers dropped dead instantly from an aneurysm while she was watching them on the playground, then one of the kids was admitted for mental health checks because his only reaction was 'Does that mean we get to go home? YES!'
Teaching is stressful..
We all have teachers that we really enjoyed having and some that we didn't enjoy at all. But regardless, I would be in total shock if this happened. I couldn't imagine walking in on my worst teacher, dead.
