Rogue One: A Star Wars Story Makes $71.1 Mil on Opening Night
Audiences are still feeling the Force. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story heads into the weekend with $71.1 million, which includes the $29 million earned from Thursday night screenings.•
The film, directed by Gareth Edwards and starring Felicity Jones, had the largest Thursday opening of the year, surpassing Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice ($27.7 million) and Captain America: Civil War ($25 million). If projections hold true, then Saturday would add approximately $41 million more for a total weekend projection of $140-150 million.•
Should Rogue One reach the higher end of that spectrum, it would rank among the top 15 of the largest opening weekends of all time. Furious 7 currently holds the 14th largest with $147.2 million, just behind Sam Raimi’s•Spider-Man 3 with $151.1 million.•
Glad to see that at least one movie did well this year
I think it did everything well but it still felt like it was missing something. Lightsaber fights, maybe.
Storm troopers had no TR-8R

It felt less like Star Wars and more like a futuristic redux of Saving Private Ryan. It was fun, don't get me wrong. It just didn't feel much like Star Wars. Were it not for [sp] Vader and the Death Star [/sp] showing up, you could've easily passed it off as a random Sci-Fi movie.
all the close people who I've talked to don't care to see the film, neither for myself. Don't know why for the consensus, don't care either.

That's kind of what they were going for, though

But [sp]it kind of did at the end[/sp]
How much did the other Star Wars films make on opening night in comparison? TFA made $120. How'd the others do?
Long enough ago where it's apples to oranges probably

I have no idea if these are accurate, I'm grabbing them off http://www.boxofficemojo.com/ and http://www.the-numbers.com/,
I assume they're not adjusted for inflation
Episode 4: $254,809
Episode 5: $1,333,305
Episode 6: $6,219,629
Episode 1: $28,542,349

also can account for size of population and amount of theaters showing the film.
Also kids films do well because you're having a family watch it.

It's better then episode 7 and an all round amazing movie

The whole point of this movie was about rebel fighters, not Jedi. I think the movie was made better with the exclusion of lightsaber fights
I really liked the movie. Way better than the last one

I don't know, the most iconic item in the Star Wars franchise was the light saber. [sp]Darth Vader[/sp] was like the only one to use it, so I'd think people would be paying attention to Vader since he was the one who had the cool shit. Everyone else was like "meh, nothing special except for their personality traits". It may be an impact for adults, but kids and teens mostly just watch the cool guy on the block.

Is it better music wise, I really didn't like 7's music to a point where it physically distressed me.
I've heard from vinesauce stream tonight that it made babies cry which is a plus for me.
I think that this movie is vastly superior to mediocre EP7. Go ahead, sue me.

Bold numbers represent adjusted for inflation amounts using the RBA inflation calculator. Number on the right is the number of theaters the movie opened in.
Honestly, I think I enjoyed it more than any other Star Wars film. After so much Jedi crap, getting to see more of a world and characters who felt more genuine and real was great. People who you felt could die at any moment because they didn't have a light saber and absurd dancing to block everything and just kill everyone in a moment. My parents, who both saw the originals when they were kids, both said they loved it and to them it recaptured the magic of Star Wars from when they were kids. I'd certainly go see it again if someone said, "Hey wanna come along?"
I wanted to see it, but every damn cinema in the Netherlands, at least close by shows it in 3D, which I have trouble seeing and makes my eyes hurt.
I would put it on.par with empire strikes back. Really good film, one of the best I have seen. I'm a massive star wars fan and there's so much more to the universe than sith V Jedi.
You are doing yourself a disservice if you don't see it.

Tbh, I'm glad to hear that it has less of that
I don't want star wars to be all light sabers and that's it. Imagine if star trek was all klingon/romulun/borg battles and that's it
it'd get boring fast

man fuck a lightsaber
Lightsabres are cool in moderation. It's not as cool if everybody is swinging them around all day.
The movie was enjoyable and really fun, but characters were completely forgetable. I can't even remember their names.

Republic Commando is one of the better Star Wars games. Does it have lightsabers? No, (aside from few optional cameos) and it's even better because of that.
The only thing I want to ask: did that female lead have the same bland facial expression the entire film ?

C'mon, not even [sp]K2-SO[/sp]?
I have to admit, I've already forgotten Donnie Yen's character. [sp]I only call the pair "Ip Man and his boyfriend"[/sp]
I wasn't really aware that there's yet another new star wars
It's in my top 3 Star Wars movies. I've already seen it twice. Probably the best battle scene in all of Star Wars, and THAT scene from the end was fucking awesome.
