Although I haven't played RS in years, Jagex has always been one of my favourite companies. They work miracles with PR, no matter how shitty the situation.
I'd choose Elf city, isn't that the unfinished area that's been there for like 8 years?
Is that guy in the picture seriously using a crab as a fist weapon?
there needs to be more games with crab-fists.
I honestly having played runescape since classic, and the RS2 beta era, think the game really shines now adays, they're always consistently adding new things and quests, so it never really gets old.

You clearly didn't see what happened when they bought Ace of Spades... God that was a shitfest...
Runescape has been dead since 2008
Yay, another skill is exactly what is needed.
Runescape really has gone downhill since 2010, it used to be this interesting (if quite simple technically) open world playground MMO where you could travel all accross the overworld at any level and train all these non-combat skills, with interesting quests that involved more than 'gather x number of y' or 'kill y, x number of times' and more often then not actually involved thinking and the use of these non-combat skills.
Since 2010, RS has slowly been simplified and casual-ized to the point of being another generic theme park mmo, with all of these voice acted quests now that just have you running from point A to point B and back again (and maybe killing x) with no real interesting story or puzzles.

dude that's what runescape has been since like 2002.
the new combat sucks
I'd go back to rs for that sweet sweet ddp++ spec if they reversed it all

I'm one of those turds that also likes the GE and godwars dungeon haha
I'd be surprised if Elf City didn't win.

After like 10 years of saying 0 tolerance on gold selling, they turn around and sell ingame gold themselves.
That, and numerous other shitty updates that have wrecked the game.

Well it's an inevitable problem, it was better they provide a secure means rather than players buying from some dodgy third-party. Worked brilliantly with Eve Online.

Its just extremely hypocritical is all. They had a policy for like 10 years that they would never sell in-game power because they valued player advancement and shit.

Back then, "they" meant Andrew, Paul, and Ian Gower. Now, "they" means this new CEO who aims to deconstruct and destroy everything that RuneScape used to be when the Gower brothers were in charge.
Jagex did some damage control by going from "Mid to high levels can access Prifddinas" on Reddit to "Only people who did within the light can access the city, if the city wins then they'll be a quest a bit later that lets the rest open up" on the official forums itself.
I think the problem with Runescape in general is that content seems slow and stagnated, their tendency to create entirely new assets and music for new quests and areas is probably slowing down the creative process, which is sorta bad compared to the lore and worldbuilding it has done so far.
Another thing is that Combat is essentially bottlenecked....everything goes up to about 70 which is reserved for Barrows/God War Dungeon items which is probably in circulation for a long time, everything else after that seems far and few...
• Dungeoneering, one of the most debatable and probably hated skills, introduces level 80 weapons/shields and whatever.
• Nex's dungeon was eventually added to GWD, needs rare drop key bits from followers in the 4 other sections, nex herself drops level 80 power-class armor/weapons for all styles.
• Player Owned Ports introduced originally level 85 Defence-class armor, eventually adding level 85 throwing weapons, a cape and some sort of 5% chance 50% damage reducing ring.
• Kalphite King introduced level 90 Melee weapons.
• Vorago introduced level 90 Mage Weapons, needs an extremely large team just to kill.
• Ascension Dungeon is a casual slayer dungeon for 90 or so, it's layered in multiple rare drops just to get a rare drop from a bigger boss just to make Crossbows that uses a Not-Rare-Yet-Rare-Due-To-Newness level 60 Dragon Crossbow from a old monster as part of the item.
• Barrows Deluxe has level 90 Shields that degrade. and level 90 Melee armor that crumbles, but needs a large amount of GP just to buy the plates, and even then, the energy required is difficult to obtain since you need to team up with 3 or so other people AND survive.
Despite all these, there's still gaps in representation of combat weapons, like the severe lack of crushing weaponry, or how Mage has a 75 tier which is essentially nice welfare items.
They could've potentially used Divination as some form of combat power creep, but all it did was just introduce copy/pasted skill plots people can summon once daily, the item protection/life Portant is only valuable just to save an extra item or to be able to wear a Ring of wealth without having to worry about the ring of life. and no one is going to give a nod to Transmutating items just because of the energy's GP cost, there's little circumstances where people could potentially use it...is if they were mining/chopping lower/easier items and converting them on the dot, just to avoid running to banks.
Frankly, even i went for Prifddinas, just because they would indirectly introduce an Achievement Diary, a Quest and a whole city that's been there for like 8 years, Invention probably wont even add Fishing Spots....Divination could've added it but they just chose redundant tree/rock types instead....trees doesn't even move like fishing spots and is more afkable...
Runescapes skills (pre08) is a good basic concept.
Now if someone took them into a first person, decent visual world, and expanded on those skills a bit, with a totally new combat system, then you would potentially have a great MMO.
