• Adult Swim Cancels Its suspected “Alt-Right” Show ‘Million Dollar Extreme: World Peace’
Three weeks after Brett Gelman announced that he was severing ties with Adult Swim due to their treatment of women and their promotion of the “alt-right” comedians and fans behind their new show Million Dollar Extreme, the network has finally responded in the form of a cancellation, confirming with us that the show — which aired its six-episode debut season over the summer — will not return for another season. Prior to the cancellation, Buzzfeed spoke with some Adult Swim staffers last month who claimed that many insiders at the network have been lobbying to get the show off the air:
According to one source with knowledge of the network’s operations, it’s likely that Lazzo is already aware of the show’s solicitations of the alt-right. The same source said that the Adult Swim standards department repeatedly found coded racist messages in the show, including swastikas, which were removed ahead of broadcast. None of this was enough, according to one of the sources, to convince Lazzo not to air the show. “Lazzo makes every decision there. A lot of people at Adult Swim have been on him, trying to get it not renewed,” said the source. “I know at least one person who is very high up there who was furious about it before it came out.”
Adult Swim’s senior director of programming Kim Manning confirmed this when she took to Reddit to defend EVP/creative director Mike Lazzo after Brett Gelman left the network and responded to a comment about Million Dollar Extreme with this:
What can I say? MDE is a source of HOT, HOT debate around the office. To be fair, I don’t know of a single alt-right sympathizer at Williams St, most of us at least lean more extreme left. (I gleefully wore a pantsuit all day on Tuesday, champagne ready, and am still crying, wearing my safety pin, googling what to do next.) So… you can imagine how I feel about the issue but… I just will say it’s a source of HOT, HOT debate at Williams St, and it has been for a long time. Look, we made the Gelman specials, and we made Tim and Eric, and we made The Boondocks – when we’ve let our programming have a political point of view, it’s always leaned more to the left. This was about letting a different point of view, a voice that was upending things in a crazy, new, way, have a shot. That TED talk was funny. If you watch the show we produced, it’s not an alt-right speak piece. I realize that social media is a totally different story. We argue about it a lot around the office. That’s all I can really say.

http://splitsider.com/2016/12/adult-swim-cancels-its-alt-right-show-million-dollar-extreme/ Buzzfeed article mentioned: https://www.buzzfeed.com/josephbernstein/adult-swim-talent-trying-to-cancel-million-dollar-extreme?utm_term=.vjMm7Pyj2#.up6p14275 Brett Gelman reddit post that was mentioned: https://np.reddit.com/r/adultswim/comments/5cwthm/brett_gelman_says_hes_severed_ties_with_adult/da0di1j/?context=3 UPDATE Sam Hyde's response article http://dailycaller.com/2016/12/09/adult-swim-fired-me-for-supporting-donald-trump-heres-how-it-went-down/

Edit: Due to this bring text, I shoulf clarify mean this without sarcasm
ahahaaaa They poked at "militia insurgency experts" for YEARS, did anyone at Williams watch a single damn episode? So because they made fun of Wu they are 'alt-right' aka borderline Neo-Nazis. Insulation will never not make people completely fucking stupid.
adult swim is alt-right?
Williams Street believes Venezuela is a capably run government.

I can see why self-described "extreme left" adult swim employees might buckle under pressure to remove it.
Did you read his reasoning??
Yes, and caring about politics before content and reception via RATINGS not buzzfuckingfeed is something children do. This is the house that made Boondocks 4 specifically against the wishes of McGruder, so you'll excuse me if am somewhat dubious of the supplied reasoning.
world peace certainly has been the most disruptive bit of television adult swim has put out recently
the point is that theyre not. hence the cancellation also good. sam hyde is the worst and the show is garb
i agree that sam hyde is not funny at all, the ted talk was trash.
Did you read his reasoning??
What reasoning? Lazzo nixed the show because crybabies within [as] wanted it cancelled for daring to say something political other than "republicans r bad :P".

So because they made fun of Wu they are 'alt-right' aka borderline Neo-Nazis. Insulation will never not make people completely fucking stupid.
Which Wu did they make fun of? Are you trying to somehow bring Gamergate into something completely unrelated to it for no reason?
Which Wu did they make fun of? Are you trying to somehow bring Gamergate into something completely unrelated to it for no reason?
MDE made up a character that everyone thought was real and he said #gamergate and said wu was trying to assassinate him.
Man I dont agree at all for the reasoning this shit got cancelled but man does it seem derivative and not that funny. I wanna protest this but really don't feel like I'm losing anything
Which Wu did they make fun of? Are you trying to somehow bring Gamergate into something completely unrelated to it for no reason?
the only time I remember was with eagle nation under his 6 year trolling saying he was going to go to her house. After he gets onto the road he films himself with a cashed car that's on his side in the middle of the road.
What reasoning? Lazzo nixed the show because crybabies within [as] wanted it cancelled for daring to say something political other than "republicans r bad :P".
more like he nixed it because they kept trying to sneak in hidden racist messages (though probably for their style of humor, I hope) and the fact that one of their partners actually left because they wouldn't take down the show at first I think it's good that they gave it a fair shot but at some point I can understand them doing what's good for business, particularly when it was already highly controversial among their mostly-leftist employees
MDE made up a character that everyone thought was real and he said #gamergate and said wu was trying to assassinate him.
This is completely about the TV show though. Jace Connors was over a year ago and that, Wu, and Gamergate have nothing to do with the cancellation.
I like MDE and all but World Peace was lame.
This is completely about the TV show though. Jace Connors was over a year ago and that, Wu, and Gamergate have nothing to do with the cancellation.
It's about the group, if you read the article the rage inside the company was around before it even made it to air because of the associations MDE has

Cause it is complete bullshit with no evidence whatsoever as far as I can tell.
MDE made up a character that everyone thought was real and he said #gamergate and said wu was trying to assassinate him.
all he wanted to do was a bit of legal street racing against brianna wu on black ice roads rip parkourdude91
Yes, and caring about politics before content and reception via RATINGS not buzzfuckingfeed is something children do.
MDE made up a character that everyone thought was real and he said #gamergate and said wu was trying to assassinate him.
Wasn't really MDE, they were just buddies with Jace who came up with the Deagle Nation stuff. I don't think MDE actually wrote anything for him.
Can we actually have some screen grabs for these various symbols people keep saying exist? Cause it is complete bullshit with no evidence whatsoever as far as I can tell.
I don't know about racist messages, but they did have censor Elliot Rodgers manifesto during the bumps. And the logo they censored was James Holmes.
more like he nixed it because they kept trying to sneak in hidden racist messages (though probably for their style of humor, I hope) and the fact that one of their partners actually left because they wouldn't take down the show at first
Sam Hyde did a vlog on this where he denies it and points out how stupid it would be for them to do something like this like putting in swastikas when they have a jewish guy handling their first show.

What evidence is there that there were hidden racial messages? Oh, a BuzzFeed article from Joe Bernstein, a shithead with a grudge against MDE because Sam put him on blast and uploaded the video to YouTube. There are no hidden racial messages, the guy who does the S&P editing for World Peace at Adult Swim is Jewish for fuck sake.
I don't know about racist messages, but they did have censor Elliot Rodgers manifesto during the bumps. And the logo they censored was James Holmes.
Well that's more dark/bad humor than secret Alt-right messages.
The only place you would know for sure is direct from the source or from somewhere in the company.
An anonymous source that provides zero evidence and has been denied by the creators (with a lot of logic behind the denial as well). Literally the only source for these claims is Joe Bernstein who made it his life's mission to get the show cancelled (he tweeted about how this is like, his "cause" or something now lmao) because Sam made fun of him for being a loser and put the video on the internet. Sounds like a reputable source to me!

There's no telling who the source is if it's actually proven the writer of the article has a grudge
