• BFG Card Died - Any Way to RMA?
    28 replies, posted
I have a Sli setup with two GTS 250s, one from BFG, the other, PNY. Now, considering BFG doesn't do RMA's anymore, is there any possible way I could RMA it with another company? I know PNY had a promo going on, but that only gave you 25% off a new card. Hell, do you think it'd be possible to buy a new card from the store, switch them, and return it? Not so legal, but... Any suggestions? Or am I gonna have to shell out money for a new card; not a big deal if I must, but if I don't have to, I'd rather not.
I think the bios for them states which manufacturer made it.
I don't think so.

You could buy a new card and swap them BUT they've both got to be near identical, i.e. the same model and cooler type etc, which with the GTS 250 will be hard to locate and considering how cheap/outdated it is now it's not really worth it.
If the manufacturer won't take RMA's you're out of luck.
BFG Tech won't RMA. They stopped doing that.
Uh, how can they just stop offering support like that inside of warranty? What kind of country doesn't have laws against this?

Good point..
Same cooler? wat
Uh manufacturers have been using custom coolers on cards since the Nvidia 8000 days.
Uh manufacturers have been using custom coolers on cards since the Nvidia 8000 days.
Even before that.
Same cooler? wat
Even if it's the same model if they've got different coolers you're screwed, unless you can take it off without damaging the warrenty voiding stickers.
Oh, sorry, I thought you meant you need the same cooler for SLI. You meant RMA the bad card to another company.
BFG Tech is gone, so you're out of luck.
I'm going to sell a bunch of stuff that I know will break then kill off the company so nobody can return it.
Uhhh, BFG Tech manufactured good cards. They never made junk. I have a GTX 275 OC sold by them in my machine right now, going strong for a year now with no issues whatsoever. Also, you do know they went BANKRUPT, right? The fact that you seem to believe that they went out of business just to spite their customers is pretty ignorant of you.
Yeah, the fan on my BFG power supply started making a bunch of grinding noises. Was going to RMA, then I saw they went out of business months before. But hey, I learned something about how to lubricate fans and the power supply is still going strong. I didn't want to have to get rid of it just because of a fan noise issue, especially if its still perfectly good.
I have a BFG Tech running a 570. It's a 2006 PSU. They make good products.
IMO lifetime warranties are what they are and they should be honoured regardless. BFG should have either budgeted for unbreakable cards or offered a 3/5-year warranty or has it's clock speed/ voltage locked down and under-clocked to begin with, and a bunch of stuff you can't do which would put the card in any danger of malfunctioning. Returning a broken card with this letter: is simply preposterous, how can a company just send out a 3-line 'fuck you.' for products that people willingly shelled out $600 for. It's a condescending kick in the teeth for ANY customer that bought from them.

Do you always have to rma with the original manufacturer? Whenever I had a broken/faulty graphics card I would send it back to ebuyer/overclockers/etc and they would deal with it and send me a new card back?
If it's within the first year of purchase then it's the e-tailer/retailer otherwise it's the manufacturer, or at leats in the UK

Depends on their return policies. Otherwise, you go with the manufacturer warranty.

I wish they had the same policy as retailers in the UK.

BFG closed down? This is news to me. I even have two products of theirs under lifetime warranty. [editline]p[/editline] Wow I am so late. They closed around last year and I just noticed this now.
