Hey there Facepunch, I thought I would share my latest creation, inspired by Tacome1942's creations (Here is his youtube channel http://www.youtube.com/user/Tacome1942 He has made complete firing guns from paper alone) I have decided I am going to create a replica Glock 26.
Basically it is going to be as accurate as possible built to exact measurements the only thing is it is likely that this will be non-firing and for display only, as I am not very advanced at this sort of art and the mechanics required are mind blowing. It will be functional in the slide, magazine release, safety, trigger etc, but will not fire projectiles.
Anyway I only just started and this is what I have so far, the basic shape of the slide,

I will harden this and add details with paper and glue.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be helpfull.
paper is an awesome material for building stuff
However, I do not see the appeal of building a replica.
Why don't you design and build your own gun?
I used to do a lot of papercraft work, and actually made a massive revolver once (the one from the anime Trigun). I don't have a picture of mine since it got crushed a day after I finished it :argh:
here's one someone else made using the same model- [img_thumb]http://www.deviantart.com/download/108999702/Trigun____45_Long_Colt_by_MakenXXX.jpg[/img_thumb]
I always found making replicas fun, but not of real-world objects, rather things from fiction like space fighters and the like. Keep at it, though, I know that there's less room for error when making a functional(ish) design of a real-world object.

Ew, use some polygroups or subd :)
yeh. It looks good when you don't use 60/80lb paper like I think that guy did. Papercraft always asks for cardstock, but rarely ever needs it. Could just be me, though.

I love papercraft. I've never seen "cardstock" over here or varied paper densities, I go to a store and they just give me blank looks. From what I understand cardstock is just higher density paper... I probably wasn't looking hard enough but they never seem to have any. I find with thinner paper I have to put in structural supports.
@OP
I really like what you're doing. The idea of making something fake that looks real or is smaller or bigger than the norm is thrilling ro me( as nerdy as that sounds).
Do you plan everything in advance? I always have problems where I haven't left a flap or whatever for a vital component.
I love Tacome 1942! I was thinking of making a shotgun when i can be bothered. :v:
Do you use glue, or what?
I'm thinking of doing this because I have loads of freetime.
well im using thin cardboard to make the basic shape, then I am layering paper on top of that with PVA glue, im also using a modeling knife to create the details such as grooves for the sights and stuff. Its going well so far more pics soon :P
Making paper guns is always awesome.
The lives you all must lead. I'm so sorry.
I actually lead a good life, its just I have to wait untill next semester at Uni so I have alot of free time, I work nights, but Uni during the day and at the moment my days are free. My mates and gf's Uni courses dont break for a couple of weeks yet lol so I am pretty bored.
Somebody make a SPAS-12
-snip, I'm an idiot-
Its no a spas he made, its a Benelli M3, and its nice :P, I have watched all his videos and what he does is simply incredible.

Oh heavens, someone has free time and wants to have some fun! What socially devoid people they are.
I see no problem with someone doing something they enjoy in their spare time.

Oh, right. It looked like one tho, I forgot the name so that's all I came up with.
The slide is coming along well, one more layer of paper then I will post some more pics, also I changed my mind the gun will be fireable. I have talked to Tacome about some of his techniques, and I believe I can make my gun fireable, I have to redesign the internals to be simpler than the actual glock, but its coming along well.
i love making paper guns
i only made 1, it was spas to but then i got bored and threw it away
XD
I once made a gun of my own from paper. And once I was bored so I made a M92 while in a car.
Replace the paper with sheet metal.
Awesomeness assures.

As well as the fuzz, since I'm pretty sure making replicas is against the law if you don't have a license.

In America that isn't how it works.
