I have really enjoyed that after trying to perfect my assassin skills to just go all out and murder the entire population of a level which is sometimes really difficult :v:
I find it a little easy to get Silent Assassin ratings compared to older Hitman games, but its totally offset by just how much fun shit there is to do in it. I didn't spend the last 10 years playing Blood Money just getting SA rank over and over, I just did stupid shit and tried to get SA in the most unconventional ways possible, or just killing everyone. Trademarked I feel totally nails that side of the game and I love it
i like "trademarked" as a subtitle for the new hitman game
HITMAN™ is probably the best game I've ever gotten free in a bundle from something else (my CPU came with it. I actually had also already preordered the starter edition and I had to go back and forth for a couple of weeks with Steam support to get the code activated while maintaining my preorder content because Steam wouldn't let me redeem it while I owned the starter pack and I wouldn't have it if I refunded it and used the code :v:), but it took a long while to get to a point where I'd consider it a full game. It's there now, and I recommend at least buying the first episode to give it a shot and upgrading to the full season pass from there if you enjoyed it and don't mind having to buy more of the game later on when it's made.
Only downside, still, is the always-online requirement for a strictly single-player game. And no, timed Elusive Targets do not justify me having to log into a Square Enix server, just so I can beat challenges and get unlocks. They've already changed it, and made it so you can play offline with any unlocks you've already gotten, while being unable to get anything new. I hope they completely patch that out once the game is wrapped up, at least.
It looks like one of the most versatile games in the genre, but I can't shake the feeling that I'll be super bad at it.
It looks like one of the most versatile games in the genre, but I can't shake the feeling that I'll be super bad at it.
A big part of Hitman is just learning the maps what you can and can't do. Unless you are going for Silent Assassin + Suit only it isn't too hard.
It looks like one of the most versatile games in the genre, but I can't shake the feeling that I'll be super bad at it.
They give you enough tools to make it pretty easy if you're not superb. For example, 47 has wallhacks built into his body this time around. Hell, if you've worked out a path to get from your target to the escape and can run straight there, you can just throw a knife into your target and run away in some cases and be totally fine. It's only in the challenges where you're really have any issues, and doing those will ingrain the maps into your mind. Afaik, they still haven't implemented anything to change map layouts slightly when you play them in the style of L4D2 and PAYDAY 2, so once you learn where a wrench is that wrench'll probably be there again later.
I might grab soon nuff
this is my first hitman game and i've been having a fun time. you get better as you learn the map more and have a better understanding of the tools you have on the map and when you can use them
I bought this yesterday and its really good fun. I just accidentally committed mass murder after I realised a container wasn't empty and it was actually a vat of acid, which I'd thrown 4 people into.
yeah its really good, but the always online shit is still dumb, and I'm still iffy on the whole elusive targets thing "tough luck you missed out on game content!!"
Just beat all the episodes. Was a bit disappointed by the final 2 missions, but overall it was a really good experience. Cannot wait for season 2.
yeah its really good, but the always online shit is still dumb, and I'm still iffy on the whole elusive targets thing "tough luck you missed out on game content!!"
I really hope they consider releasing the each season's elusive targets at the end of each one so that there's still a consequence for fucking it up or just not playing it but it's not gone forever
It's funny how fast the opinion's for this game changed, I got called a dumbass for putting faith in IO and for preordering the entire experience, and now those people are buying the game and pretending they never criticized me for buying the new Hitman. It's a fantastic game, and it's a hell of a lot harder than the other Hitman's if you did what I did and disabled all the hints and ui stuff to make it more like the original games. [editline]28th December 2016[/editline] Also I'll never be able to forgive myself for failing to kill Gary Busey, god dammit.
T47 has wallhacks built into his body this time around
Yeah this limited range hitman vision, its not like the map from the first 4 games that showed the exact position of every npc across the whole map at all times.
Also I'll never be able to forgive myself for failing to kill Gary Busey, god dammit.
I failed that fucking Elusive Target in the dumbest way possible.
I'm sorry, let me get this straight, you're telling me that Gary Busey appears as a rare target to kill?
He appeared and will never appear again unless they decide to release the elusive targets as dlc
Yeah this limited range hitman vision, its not like the map from the first 4 games that showed the exact position of every npc across the whole map at all times.
It's much easier to orient yourself when you can just hold a button and move your mouse instead of looking at a 2d map with multiple levels

Not to mention Hitman is one of few games designed in a way episodic release doesn't hurt it. It enabled the users to enjoy each levels individually without being overwhelmed with content at once, IO got time to polish things up, and it probably got more media exposure since media often reviewed each episode, so it was in the news very often. I'm sure if they released it sooner the game wouldn't be that polished. And if they waited too long, maybe lack of money would make them cut content to save money and again it wouldn't be as polished.

I can't imagine what the game would have been like if they stuck with their original December release date. Thankfully they've been listening to community feedback.
I just finished the Paris episode. I was completely unable to connect to squeenix servers, so I was punished for being a customer by not having elusive targets, but hey - that's just additional content on top of the game, I guess. I don't know why I wasn't able to connect, thought - I mean, here I am, posting on an online forum. And I finished the episode, and damn well I did - going from one disguise to another, not being spotted in any way, doing the walk with a terrible make-up. The game wouldn't even let me view my stats. Stats, numbers, rating? [t]http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/100601835452560704/80ADDF7790E03438BBFC9CF64C0186A61770BE29/[/t] Thank you, squeenix, and your triple layer of DRM. As much as I love how the game ended up in terms of gameplay and quality, and the fact that it works on my piece of shit laptop. I'm genuinely looking forward to downloading the rest of the episodes and enjoying them in so many ways. But I can't ignore this stuff that simply shouldn't be here. Why am I being punished? Why is there such a huge line between online and offline play? Why can't I even get a title, a rating, that was present in every other game?

I had an account from 2006 so it's not like I was ever missing out on anything.
I still think Blood Money is better but this new one isn't bad and can be pretty fun so w/e. Also, always online is fucking garbage so that's big minus. [editline]29th December 2016[/editline]
It's much easier to orient yourself when you can just hold a button and move your mouse instead of looking at a 2d map with multiple levels
I liked the old map. Wish they hadn't ditched it for this weird 'hitman vision'. I also miss being able to select a difficulty level. I'm just so used to the way Blood Money works that the stuff in this game causes me to make weird mistakes or assumptions. For example, in Blood Money a disguise was infallible so I keep forgetting that's not the case anymore(still, lots better than Absolution). In Blood Money you had infinite coins(which was hilarious btw) but here apparently 47 is poor as fuck. It's not like he doesn't have pocket space since I can shove 5 knives, 3 monkey wrenches, 3 crowbars, 5 cannonballs, and a can of soda in his suit. No weapon customization, very limited amount of weapons, etc. I could list lots more about it that I don't like BUT having said that I do enjoy the game and am eager for season 2.
Eh, it's not Blood Money. I absolutely hate how much IO is trying to shove the idea of being a 'moral killer' down my throat. No, I don't want to play as a silent assassin, now please stop attempting to railroad my game experience and let me off whoever I feel necessary. Honestly, by the end of the game, I only got one item unlock, simply because of IO trying to penalize me every time I didn't play the game exactly to their railroad specifications. Killing everyone and leaving a bunch of witnesses makes you a bad Hitman. How else do you suggest they score you while still allowing you to pick whatever approach you want?
Is this game worth 30 dollars? I've been thinking about it for a while but would someone with a kinda sort of unreliable internet connection still be able to get something out of this game?
