Hey guys! I've got a great idea. Nobody wants to buy our tablets. But I have a solution—instead of fixing what sucks about the PlayBook, let's throw in an extra one! OK, now who's got a cold Molson?
RIM's latest tap dance towards the tech ash heap taps a tried and true sales method: the buy X get one free deal! Usually found on deodorant shelves at Target, not at a major electronics company, RIM says the business-targeted promotion will make things "more affordable for your business." Yes, your business, now equipped with tablets that can't check email, calendars, contacts, or BBM each other, will be the next IBM Coca-Cola. Go forth, captains of industry. Are they serious?
wow it's like i'm really getting a shitty deal
Funny, when I was in Canada my uncle said RIM were going to go down the shitter but I argued that the PlayBook was going to change that. I suppose I owe him 5 dollars.
It's funny because Blackberry still thinks they're cool
Who is going to actually need this offer? Businesses will get them cheaper in bulk and your average consumer wouldn't ever need 3.
Who at RIM thought that launching a tablet that can't check things like e-mail on release wasn't a terrible idea?
RIM is falling into disrepair I reckon it'll need a miracle to last another year.

Businesses won't get them at all, at least businesses that respect themselves.
Wait... they can't check email? What are businesses supposed to do with them, play Angry Birds?

Well, you have to have your own Blackberry and link that to the playbook. After that they can check email, bbm and shit.
For a second when I looked at the image I thought it was buy two RIM tablets and get an iPad free.

Right, because it's not like the actual source article in question mentions they're just trying to move units because they're not going to have a better product ready until next year, and they need to do something to get the damn things of shelves other than throw them in a landfill.
Holy shit is Gizmodo terrible. This is Fox-quality tech news.
Actually without the Netherlands the blackberry would be already dead, holland is pretty much the only country now where the blackberry is still getting sold pretty decent.
RIM is also using Holland as their "living lab" to test out shit on the users here.

However thanks to some "difficulties" alot of users sold their blackberry's and went to iPhone

They shouldn't have released the product this year at all if they're that slow in catching up. That's pretty much the worst thing you can do for your brand.

Except that gizmodo isn't a new site, it's a blog.
It's a blog that talks about new stuff, but it's still a fucking blog.
No idea how it's allowed as a source in SN anyway.
I feel bad for RIM. Blackberries are decent phones and it's sad to see one of the biggest companies in the country go down in flames. The playbook isn't that great though.

Any lead to how many the Playbook has been sold?

Sorry, but no. My family (including me) recently had all Blackberry phones until switching to Android, and all of them broke down one way of another within a matter of months. Both the new ones and old ones.
In fact, one of my friends currently has the Torch and hates it.
RIM. Canada misses the old you.
You made awesome two-ways.

What? Why can you not check email with it?
Any lead to how many the Playbook has been sold?
Xooms were way too expensive for me to even dream of. That's probably why they didn't do too incredible.
The blackberry tablet is a pretty damn good tablet. It is really just its lack of apps that is crippling it.

Uhm actually busnesses buying them in bulk is keeping them afloat.
I really wonder why tech companies don't get people who work at these tech sites (Engadget, Gizmodo etc.) to try out their prototypes and tell them what they need to change.

Yeah, I can say from my current job experience, that sometimes external parties are a lot better at fully testing things than QA
Fuck that, getting the Advent Vega!

I know loads of people here who use blackberries, if only because of Blackberry Messenger.
