It's only a rumor.. I wouldn't get too mad untill its officialy revealed
Eh, I'm actually more curious how the Lightning headphones quality will be like. So until then, I'd rather wait to see that. I wouldn't be surprised if they showed off how much more good sounding quality it is compared to normal 3.5mm at the next Keynote.

Well, it's all about making sure that the customers of Apple wants it and don't need the old garbage 3.5mm. Then again maybe there won't be any rhetoric like that on the keynote. But, there isn't much to say about iPhone 7 except it's even thinner and waterproof!
Complain all you want but i think the iPhone 7 is already past design stage and is currently being validated and i think Apple is also aware that people will first react negatively to it. A good issue would be that if there were Lightning headphones that these headphones would only work on iPhone and not on any other device
More proproetary cords, hooray! Lets just invalidate every aux cord and headphone out there! If it ends up being true I can kiss listening to Spotify in the car goodbye, an 03 car with no Aux port so I have to use one of those casette tape aux cord things.

The most interesting thing I can think of is what you do when you want to charge your phone and listen to music at the same time. Other than that, wouldn't it be possible to construct a device that changes the ports from lightning to aux?

Only annoying part is you need to buy an adapter to do this, of course.
Well in case you don't want to install a head unit you can buy a bluetooth Cassette Adapter in case you are planning on getting a 7
or you know apple could just do the not retarded thing and continue using the standard headphone jack literally EVERYTHING uses. but hey that makes too much sense and not enough $$$$ off of proprietary cables.
or you know apple could just do the not retarded thing and continue using the standard headphone jack literally EVERYTHING uses. but hey that makes too much sense and not enough $$$$ off of proprietary cables.
Considering this is the company that told you to buy adapters from USB-C to normal USBs, it isn't that hard to grasp this becoming a reality either. They earned fat bucks of that new macbook nonsense too, so.

I had a phone with 2.5mm and it was a bitch having to use (and keep track of) a small adapter. And if they make it impossible to use non-official adapters we're looking at another instance of paying out the ass for nothing.
"theyve done shit like this in the past so we should just bend over and take whatever they want to shove up our asses and not complain about any new changes"
It sucks, but that's the reality of Apple. I still don't know why they're on a quest to thin out their devices until they are as thin as paper. But, I suppose the market analysis show that people want smaller, thinner phones and other devices. Either this backfires horribly, since this time around it's not a luxury product for people who want a new Macbook. This time it's the iteration of a new iPhone that most people will update to when it arrives to not stand out as the person with the past generation of an iPhone in their pocket. Either people get used to buying Apple Beats or the anger gets Apple to change back to it for next generation, unless their keynote enchants the audience that lightning based connection is better than 3.5mm.
I bet they'll change back to 3.5mm on the next iteration.
if they do it it's a horrible idea and whoever approved of it should probably gargle on their own salted intestines but knowing the phone market everyone will copy it (there's already chinese android phones with no 3.5mm jack) and probably only sony phones are going to keep it. then we can all enjoy the future of even more easily lost overpriced bulky dongle adapter pieces of shit and say wow abandoning the 3.5mm jack for whatever the future garbage proprietary standard is was such a great idea can't you just hear the difference with these third-party headphones with a shit tier DAC i'm so glad we abandoned the convenience of a separate charging and headphone port so we could get a millimeter less thickness and just add awkward dongles that go for 30€ apiece because fuck real use it looks good on advertisements
do you have to pay 70$ for an adaptor to use regular headphones?
do you have to pay 70$ for an adaptor to use regular headphones?
$70? $80 is not such a large price. I would gladly pay $90 for the privilege to use my Beats® brand Beats®. Ten years from now when we're all wondering why we ever resisted the change $100 will seem like a low price for progress. I personally preordered three $150 Lightning® to 3.5mm adapters to use with all my Apple® devices.
do you have to pay 70$ for an adaptor to use regular headphones?
Of course, they'll be sold in the Apple Store for a premium price.
Online reports suggest Apple plans to omit the 3.5mm socket to make the iPhone 7 thinner and more waterproof, with more room for the battery.
Good thing 3.5mm is fucking thin and 3.5mm ports can easily be designed to be waterproof or else Apple might actually follow through with this half-baked logic.
Didn't this same thing happen with the 6?

But I can still get mad about it again, because I'm pretty sure someone will think like that... Like all the people who I ask why they like iPhones if they do pretty much the exact same thing as other phones but just cost a lot more, and they answer me with "but I like it"
I really, really doubt Apple will go with Lightning headphones included with the iPhone 7. I think they'll do Bluetooth instead, by the sheer fact that the Lightning headphones wouldn't be compatible with the Mac, the Apple TV, or the Apple Watch. Pushing Bluetooth instead of Lightning and including Bluetooth earbuds for audio with the iPhone 7 would allow for the bundled earbuds to have compatibility with other phones/computers, the Mac, and also the Apple TV and the Apple Watch. This way they could remove the 3.5mm port while keeping most people happy and allow the bundled earbuds to be compatible with literally all other Apple products. However, knowing the mistakes Apple has made recently in terms of design and choices like that (see: Apple Pencil/Magic Mouse charging and the iPhone 6/6s battery case) I almost wouldn't be surprised if they did try to force Lightning and locked everyone out from using the bundled earbuds on anything but an iOS device.

Seriously what's even the point of not having the 3.5mm output in the first place?
Easiest way to keep people happy is to not remove features. This has been a big rumor for a while. They're ditching headphone sockets to sell Bluetooth headphones. This is like, half the reason why they bought Beats. I don't own a pair myself (I don't like overpriced, shitty headphones), they are Bluetooth, right?
I think more people than just 'fans' of Apple are angry over this. This is going to affect the entire industry if they go through with this. Apple has been the leading brand for years now.
