Misleading title. They're prosecuting them for what happened in 2003.

Two retired Turkish generals have been charged over an alleged plot in 2003 to overthrow the government, reports say.
Cetin Dogan, former head of Turkey's First Army, and Engin Alan, a former special forces commander, were both remanded in custody pending trial.
They are the most senior of 33 suspects charged so far over the alleged plot.
The case has increased tensions between the military and the Islamist-rooted ruling party. However, the military has denied any coup plot.
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has vowed to punish conspirators.
"No one is above law, no one has impunity," he told a gathering of his Justice and Development Party (AKP).
Turks have been urged by their prime minister to show the courage to face their problems as the number of military officers charged and jailed for allegedly plotting a 2003 coup against the government rises to 33.
Authorities are expected to question more officers on Saturday in the so-called Operation Sledgehammer plot against Turkey's Justice and Development (AK) party government.
Police detained 67 military officers in two sweeps this week.
A showdown is taking place between the government of Recep Tayyip Erdogan, which enjoys strong electoral backing and the support of the European Union, and the fiercely secular military that has ousted four governments since 1960.
In an address to the nation on Friday night, he said: "Turkey can only solve its issues by showing the courage to face its problems.
"An impaired democracy is not the fate of this country. No one is above the law, no one is untouchable, no one is privileged."
tl;dr Turkish army isn't/wasn't happy with government because it's starting to become too Islamic, and planned coup in 2003. Islamist government begins to prosecute army generals.
Personally, I would have supported them. It's their constitutional duty to do this if they suspect a regime is not adhering to secular Turkish ideals anyway. They don't even "overthrow", nowadays they just send a letter saying "Get out or else". It's become almost a ceremony. I'd prefer it than a bunch of theocratic nut-jobs armed with western weaponry any day.

Not so accurate title. Better one would be: "Two Turkish generals now on trial for Coup in 2003"
I don't think you read the source.
If you read it, you'd know that the Turkish Army is not threatening to overthrow it, two retired generals are just being tried for an attempt in 2003.
Did you even read the article OP?
U-huh... and some people say that Turkey should be allowed into the European Union?

That would certainly piss off the Dutch and Swiss.

What have they got against Turkey

I misread the date.

Most coups aren't trying to preserve the constitution. The turkish military can launch a coup if the government becomes islamist
Too bad they didn't succeed. The fewer Islamic extremists running national governments in the world, the better.

You clearly don't know anything about the history of Turkey.
It's the Armys duty to avoid a religious government from forming in Turkey. They did no wrong in planning a coup whilst they saw how far the Islamist AK Party would go once elected.
There was no coup so this is just a witch hunt to try and de-secularise the army so when they do decide to install an Islamic government there will be no one to stop them.
I read the title and thought it was a dodgy news pun.

I assume you mean the war of Turkish independence following World War one in which the allies pursued turkey post war in an attempt to nerf them like they did the Germans. However the turks were able to reorganize after the allies dismantled the ottoman empire and maintain independence. Under the leadership of mustafa kemal no less.

No, the millitary over threw goverment after Mustafa Kemal died because new goverment was getting back to the ways of Ottoman empire and now the goverment of Turkey is acting islamatic and being shit at running the goddamn country.. Corruption, stealing fuck loads of shit. The public supports military atm but things are hot as hell.
Oh god! my people are forming a coup against me! wait no, dammit not again.
This court trial has been years in the making... as everyone else said OP clearly only read the headline and skimmed the article at best.
The Turkish Military always portrays itself as a defender of Turkey's values, but nearly every time they've done so (four times now), the country has gone to hell. AKP might have some social conservatism but they are far, FAR from being a Radical Islamic organization.
Case and point, read up on the 1980 military coup.
What sickens me more than a crappy capitalist-happy government that AKP has, is the elitist and holier than though behavior the Turkish military conducts itself with.
