Windows Media Player automaticly plays a video on startup

My dad has had this weird problem with windows media player
Upon startup of his computer, WMP opens, selects a video, then plays it.
This is without doing anything at all, it does all by itself.
My dad deleted the video in hope of vanishing the problem, but it still opens, but the video isint showing now, just WMP starts.
I'm hoping that if there is a solution to this problem, it does not involve deleting WMP
Any suggestions?
I do not see why this is so awful... just select the other media file you want to play.
Also, stop using WMP and use VLC instead unless you're using MP3 players that require it. VLC's got practically every codec under the sun.
use potplayer.

Telling the OP to stop using WMP isn't gonna solve his problem
Have you tried checking any related startup entries in msconfig?
Have you tried checking any related startup entries in msconfig?
And to add to this, the Startup folder?
The startup folder is empty, and in msconfiq, there are no related entries.
Run a scan with this.
Did a scan with Trend Micro, Malwarebytes-anitmalware and MSE
Found nothing harmfull
Sounds like a registry entry.
Check these registry entries: http://forums.hak5.org/index.php?showtopic=12112
Have you checked with Startup Explorer?
It might check some area that the rest of us haven't suggested.
I downloaded the Startup Explorer, and it showed the windows media player file in the startup programs.
I disabled it, then deleted it, only to have it appear the instant I refresh.
What the hell is this thing?
^^a regedit
Ok, call me dumb, but I don't know what that is
How do I remove it
