Ms Mordaunt, who is also a Royal Navy reservist, used the word "c**k" six times and "lay" or "laid" five times during the speech she gave last year on the welfare of poultry. But at an awards dinner last week, Ms Mordaunt - who has since been made a junior communities minister - disclosed that the real reason for making her address was a forfeit issued during a dinner in the officers' mess, The Mail on Sunday reported. "Some of my Marine training officers at Dartmouth thought it would be a good idea to break my ladylike persona by getting me to yell particular rude words during the most gruelling part of our training," she was quoted as saying. "'They failed, but during our mess dinner at the end of the course, I was fined for a misdemeanour. The fine was to say a particular word, an abbreviation of cockerel, several times during a speech on the floor of the Commons, and mention all the names of the officers present."
Not to make this a political thread, but why are there only ~10 people in the Parliament?
Oooooh you Brits, I see what you did there Cock-wellfare Now in america they'd probably just have said dick and walked out having done dick for the day and dick to fix the issue
Not to make this a political thread, but why are there only ~10 people in the Parliament?
Because sitting in Parliament is only one part of an MP's job This wasn't part of a debate on any particular bill, there wasn't anything particularly important going on in the Commons, so MPs were off doing other things
...Royal Navy officer friends...
Trust the Navy to be thinking about cocks.
Empty benches.
Trust the Navy to be thinking about cocks.
I'd expect them to be thinking more about seamen
Not to make this a political thread, but why are there only ~10 people in the Parliament?
If it's a minor bill or whatever they're debating most folk just don't show up.
Why does the British government give so fewer fucks than ours.
MPs only really show up for issues they're passionate about. If your constituency doesn't give a shit about raising the price of a roasted badger by 0.0002% then there's no point turning up, waving your uneducated opinions about and potentially fucking up the votes because your hoity toity ignorant face happens to be casting a vote.
Teach us your ways.
Empty benches.
[img_thumb]http://rt.com/files/news/31/9d/f0/00/001.jpg[/img_thumb] They only seem to want to talk about important matters I think

That 'pay' picture is from PMQs it is nothing to do with their wage and the living wage picture is from the late stage of a backbench debate meaning that as it's a minor debate not everyone showed up to begin with but being in the late stages of the debate most people have had their chance to put their point across and have left. All of these pictures that go round Facebook and Twitter are just bullshit, they are either not pictures of the event it says at all such as in this one "MPs debate their own wage" is actually PMQs or they are minor debates or late stages of debate when most people have already left to attend other business. People just like to hate politicians for no reason. MPs are really busy people and 99% of them are by far smart enough to make a lot more money doing something else so they're not in it for the money at all most politicians just want to make things better.
This is why British politics are 1000% more awesome than American politics.
