Sims 2 was the first game I ever bought on my own :v:
And naturally those who bought it and some of the expansions at retail are screwed over, thanks EA :v:
You can add your CD key to origin if you contact support, I got a free expansion pack that way.
I’d recommend paying special attention to Open for Business: the last Sims release ever to come from Maxis, and the series at its most systemic and open-ended.
Did not know that. It is my favorite Sims 2 expansion, though.
While it seems nice, its just free sims 4 publicity.
Fuck, I can't find my copy. Though I think it's too late to get the expansions free anyway
I can't find my manual god damn [editline]16th July 2014[/editline] christ my cd key isn't even in the registry

Just an FYI, if you want to register your key online, you'll have to do it through the EA live customer support
And naturally those who bought it and some of the expansions at retail are screwed over, thanks EA :v:
Yes, Sims 2, a game that was released in 2004 when digital distribution was barely even thought about as an idea for a legitimate storefront, EA themselves schemed that in 11 years time they had the plan to screw over everyone who would buy The Sims 2 at retail using their future service called Origin. Damn those time traveling villains! Is there no end to EA's trickery?!
I still have my Wal-Mart receipt for $60-something from 2004 when I bought this with money I earned on a paper route. I remember pissing off the lady at the cash because I didn't have enough in my bank account, so I kept putting more loose change on the table and going "Try it now!"
And naturally those who bought it and some of the expansions at retail are screwed over, thanks EA :v:
Oh look! A stupid!
I already have all the expansions, what do I get?
So i have to contact ea support to see if they can redeem my The Sims 2 DVD edition and University pack?
I already have all the expansions, what do I get?
You got to play them years ago.
You got to play them years ago.
Oh, I was hoping I could get my soul back.
You're fucking dumb dude
: (
you can redeem retail Sims 2 keys via EA support: http://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-2/Information-How-to-register-your-Sims-2-game-in-Origin/td-p/368020
Oh yay, thank you
I still got the email even though I never recall registering Sims 2 on Origin. I guess it counts registering it on EA.com years ago?
Originally thought it was dumb until I saw that it was possible to get this with a physical copy. Literally dusted mine off and am waiting on a response.
My ex stole all my sims 2 stuff, i'm contemplating going out and buying another copy just to get all the expansions
Have to find some way to make EA look bad when they're giving away free games.
Considering how unbelievably shitty EA is 90% of the time, it's a little hard to give them the benefit of a doubt. Granted, this is definitely a good thing, but not enough to really make me feel better about EA.
I have Sims 2 Store Edition in my library, not sure if I qualify
I was too harsh with that, sorry.
Naw it was probably deserved. Thanks though.
Just an FYI, if you want to register your key online, you'll have to do it through the EA live customer support
If you ever hear from them. Spent two hours last night waiting on their live support (rec'd waiting time was 30-35 minutes), gave up and went to sleep. I've been at it now for almost 2 hours (again, waiting time was 35 mins), and haven't been matched with a Game Advisor yet.
I have Sims 2 Store Edition in my library, not sure if I qualify
Pretty sure that was released for free since it allowed people to browse a shop to buy TS2 items (with real money).
-snip-
Eh, I'm still bummed out from when they shut down the actual Sims 2 Website. There were a lot of neat stories on there, a few of which I managed to dig up and was pleased as punch about.

Would the common support still work for that?
